FSX/ASX Current Weather Problem

Recommended Posts

Guest Wise22

Had to rebuild my FSX/ASX install and seemed to get everything installed in the proper order OK. However, when I initiate a flight from an airport I know is supposed to have current inclement weather, that weather isn't there - don't have the precip that should be there.I reverted back to FSXSP1 and uninstalled all ASX&G. I then started incremental reinstalls of ASX&G. The base install of ASX&G gives me the current precip I know currently exists along the gulf coast in LA and AL. Once I get to ASX&G SP1, the current correct weather is gone - I have a few cumulus clouds but an otherwise clear sky - and I know that ain't right. (I get the 'AS initial weather depiction complete' message too.)I'm going to go back and completely uninstall ASX again, start over and see if I can duplicate this situation; i.e., correct weather until ASX&G SP1 installation.FWIW, I don't try anything fancy with my AS config, all I want is basic current accurate weather simulation. TIA

Hi,Sorry for the problem. See in FSX if weather is set to User Defined. Also, make sure you are giving the weather enough time to be processed and loaded into FSX and processed again. It can take up to 5 minutes. Finally, please set ASX to default settings and try. Please let us know.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/

Hi Jim,Flying Vista/FSX/PMDG 747-400X, I am just passing CYXC at FL290 and have noticed that ASX is saying that wind at FL300 is 090/10, whereas my ND is showing 074/93. I have FSX weather set to User Defined and ASX set to default settings, as you requested in previous entry. 3 minutes later and ASX is saying 120/11 for FL300 and PMDG ND is saying 112/110 at FL290.Does this indicate that the highly erratic winds are being generated by FSX rather than ASX?Cheers, Richard

Hi Jim, thanks for the response.Check on all your suggestions, including waiting on the load time. I do get the 'AS Initial Weather Depiction Completed' message although it takes about 10 minutes whereas with just the base install I usually get that in under 1 minute. The weather loaded with SP1 is just plain wrong. I can choose FSX's internal weather setting mode and immediately get the right weather. How could SP1 be broken on my machine/environment?>Hi,>>Sorry for the problem. Hi Richard,Don't be fooled by the wind speeds. Look for the trailing zero on the next line all by itself. So in the case the wind speeds match. The directions could be that we report true direction and FSX reports magnetic wind direction.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/

Hi Jim,I've got 2 screen prints of ASX report pages; one the depicted weather from an ASX base install, the other with ASX SP1, both at the same airport and taken within about 10 minutes of each other. The difference being the time it took me to add the SP1 install and start up FSX.They're different, one with rain and more detail, and obviously the accurate one. I'd post the screen shots here but they exceed the size limit and I don't know how else to do this. So, the two ASX versions are producing different weather depictions. What additional information can I provide to help run this down? And all this after a complete reinstall of FSX/FSX SP1. And I do understand about choosing User-Defined. Thanks
