"LVL" switch keeps coming on...how come? Help appreciat

Recommended Posts

I just started using fs2k2 and was just messing around to familiarize myself with the features. I have been experiencing a weird thing, unlike fs2000. The problem, if it is one, is that I noticed when I click on the panel "HDG" button the "LVL" button lights up and when I click on "LVL" it should turn off (as in FS2000), but it doesn't. If I turn Flight Director off, the "LVL" button does go off. But then as soon as I enable "HDG" again the "LVL" comes on and cannot be turned off. Is this a bug of some kind Re: XP or maybe some kind of conflict with my nVidia xfx Ti4200 video card? I really don't know what is going on. Never had that problem with FS2000. This happens with any panel I am using. Regards,Tom

That's Microsoft's new autopilot feature in FS2002 to make it more realistic, they say...Kitty MercuryCathay Pacific Virtual Pilot (CX252)

FS2000 modeled the autopilot incorrectly - what you're seeing is in fact the correct real world behavior - the wing leveler should be on when the autopilot is engaged. If you want to turn on AP, you have to do it with the HDG mode...

Tom,I also found the way the leveller operates in FS2K2 as opposed to FS2K, to be a pain. What I found frustrating was that I could not fly freehand, without the autopilot, since the leveller kicked in without my invitation. I like to plan my flights freehand before translating them into FS2K2 formatted flight plans. When FS2K2 first appeared there were howls of protest on the wing leveller feature and several postings as to how to amend matters by altering the FS2002.CFG file. I found that the utility wlutil12.zip did the job for me at a click of mouse button. It could be worth your while trying it. If you can
