ATC pilots drunk ??

Recommended Posts

I have developed a radar gauge that is now included in many fighter panels, such as F-16, Mirage 4000, rafale and others. I often escort or intercept AI aircraft, it is a great experience.I have noticed that in some cases, AI aircrafts keep on going up and down instead of keeping a constant altitude, or a constant climb rate. This happens often in bad weather, with clouds and wind. It is very strange for aircrafts in final approach, the flight comes to a crash before touching the runway...Do you see the same strange behavior? Can I do something to avoid this? Thanks,Eric

Hi Eric,Are you running project AI?, I think there is an update. I experienced some very strange things like aircrafts hanging in the air not moving, crashing aircrafts like you describe..BrgdsEugen

Yes, I do.Let me make sure I understand:If Project AI is the cause of the problem, it means that all the default AI flight plans should work correctly. Am I right?I think I noticed this problem also with default AI flight plans, I'l have to check. Thanks for the info !!

Eric, First off, thanks for producing such marvelous work!! I don't use the Project AI stuff and I get that problem also. I think it has to do with the AIR file of the individual aircraft. I also think FS is limited in terms of the AI technology and therefore, reacts often incorrectly to fly these aircraft. It's almost like Joe AIPilot isn't the smartest knife in the drawer. (But that coupla belts at the airport lounge didn't help much either. LoL ) Is there a solution? Maybe. I have noticed that the fast-jet types ball-up much more often than the slower, single-engine props do. I'm thinking that if aircraft are tweeked so they are super-easy to fly and require little runway, maybe that'll fix these problems. Hope that helps.

hi Eric,Whilst testing my Super Flanker panel which uses your radar gauge (as you know :-) ) I tried a few ai intercepts & found the same thing. Ai traffic travels close to Mach 1 (about M0.97) and descends at -6000'/min or more! I also use PAI, and no, I havent got the upgrade. might try updating the files.btw my super flanker panel is in the library under newest files if anyones interested.LonelyplanetXO

You need to go into the aircraft.cfg files of each of your AI aircraft. Look under autopilot and change the default cruise speed, which will probably show up as 450-490 or so on most commercial AC, to something around 250. There's a bug where FS reads the 400-something number, which is supposed to mean true speed, as indicated speed, and therefore will fly at a ground speed of 600+ kts. For whatever reason, this has never been fixed in Project AI.That should help a bit with the erratic flying behavior, but it's also extremely important to get the updated Project AI files if you don't have them already. If you go to their website, "Unofficial Downloads," then "Utilities," and download something called paifde2.zip or something like that, it'll have all the instructions you need. Do this before changing the cruise speed as above.Regards,Marc SykesFlight Captain, Delaware AirlinesFirst Officer, Pacific West Airways

Thanks for your help !!BTW, I have looked on the PAI web site, and found a file called "PAI FDE Files.zip". The description says it is version 2, so I guess it is the file you were talking about.I'll test this ASAP.Eric

awww, no more "with Whiskey to land"? LOLOne thing I "discovered" yesterday (ok, most people probably already knew this) was that Eric's AI radar gauge works in multiplayer if you install an addon called aibridge, available here: http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.htmlSo you can track & intercept other players aircraft. Way useful for stalking those pesky F15's with the SU35 or Rafale ;-)Happy huntingLonelyplanetXOPS. One other tip - this relates to Cyril Pioffet's fantastic Rafale. One problem I found with it was that it wouldnt trim for level flight; no matter what I did. Change the elevator and aerilon trim effectiveness settings in the Flight tuning section of the aircraft file to 0.800, that solves it. Cyril's Rafale is a must have for military affectionado's.LPXO

Hello LPXO !!What you say is interesting. I knew that AIBridge works fine with my radar, but I have never the opportunity to test it. I'm happy that multiplayers can also enjoy my radar!!Thanks for the tip about the Rafale. It reminds me of another problem I had with the fantastic aircraft from Cyril: it does not work with Arrestor Cables. The great add-on works perfect with all the aircraft, but not with the latest Cyril's Rafale. I wanted to take-off from the Charles de Gaulle carrier with a Rafale Marine, and the catapult kept on saying "Catapult not armed". I switched to an older Rafale, and it worked just fine.Any idea?I may contact Cyril about this...Eric

Yeah, the 1st version didnt work with arrcab. There's now an update on Cyrils' site which makes the bird arrcab friendly. I use the "M" version all the time with Arrcab & I've landed her on the Charles deGaulle, altho I had a major task in getting the CDG arrcab file to work. (turns out it's a seperate file in the drop-down menu of arrcab). For those who haven't seen it, Cyrils site address is http://perso.wanadoo.fr/gmaxflight2002/Happy LandingsLPXOPS happy new year. I know you still have a day to go but it's 01/01/03 here in New Zealand...& ooohh, why does my head hurt?????
