MAAM DC-3 Auto Pilot

Recommended Posts

Whenever the auto pilot is engage the plane "jerks" to the new heading without any bank. Any fix for this problem. So far it's the only flaw I can find in this absolutely great plane!

This is not a flaw. With a Sperry, you should turn to any given heading manually before engaging the autopilot. You can make fine adjustments while it is engaged, but not major course changes as you might expect to with a more modern device.Read the manual about it, though. There is a glitch where the calibration changes in larger increments than MAAM-SIM are happy with; but you can overcome this by using your mouse wheel.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

As Mark says, it's a correct representation of this very early form of autopilot. There is a nice workround though. If you engage the a/p with the Ctrl+H default key commands, AND ensure you have auto-rudder enabled, the aircraft will then act like a more modern autopilot and bank to the desired heading.Hope this helps.Allcott

Thanks for both responses:My concern was that my DC-3 was not behaving properly. That is now dispelled. I do not mind the trouble of getting on course before engaging the autopilot. This bird is worth all the trouble!
