DC-3 Upgrade...

Recommended Posts

Hi all,Just putting in a plug for the DC-3 upgrade to include Jan's new windows (in BPB) for the entire series. Is there any way that you all might let us know what you are planning? (I'm not sure that it makes sense for you to say anything here, but we'd all love to hear...)Best,Mike MacKuen

Mike, if we told you about the third engine that Jan is planning to add to the tail, then we'd have to kill you; otherwise if the word got about, everyone would want one.The mods are a work in progress. We don't want to distract Jan from the task in hand so Jan, reading this, please only reply if you are eating your morning cornflakes or sitting in the smallest room.MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a]

Ok,then, sitting in the smallest room eating my morning cornffflakess whilst trying to reply, no easy tassk oopss ther goes me plate !#$$%!!$^&!!:-mad bulk of upgrade for both DC-3 and B-25 models concists of fully clickable VC's with all animations included, all quadrant handles, carb heat, tailwheellock, parkingbrake, flaps, gear levers, trim wheel and cranks,com-,fuel- and cowlflap switches, etc, and so on and what not. Not much use for screenshots here so you have to take me word on that. For the DC-3 a workable OH with most switches clickable including magnetos and start-up ( for some FS does not provide tag names yet and i left out the radios to save performance ) : http://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/new1105/vc_oh101.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/new1105/vc_oh100.jpgOn the port side there's the cockpit entrance door now : http://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/new1105/radionav7.jpgAnd a bit further back the navigator station : http://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/new1105/radionav6.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/new1...radionav102.jpgThat brings us to the starboard side where you can now do your duty as a radio operator ( bring along a pound of imagination in your flightbag ) :http://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/new1...radionav103.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/new1...radionav104.jpgGoing outside you'll find the pilots to have woken up finally. They'll undertake lively communication with eachother and the co-pilot with ATC whilst vividly scanning their instruments and the outside for any clear and present danger. A screenshot can do no justice but i gave it a go anyway, maybe you'll get the picture for the time being :http://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/new1105/pilotanim2.jpgFurthermore you'll find the prob blades to finally feather correctly in external mode too now ( sorry for messing that up with the current model) : http://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/c47pics/new1105/vaanstand.jpgHope you like this little DC-3 Tour De Upgrade, hopefully in your hangar around the corner shortly. Can i have another plate of cornflakes now !? :9Cheers,Jan

Jan, now you've done it. You realise I'm being asked to provide fully working navigator and radio station pop-ups for our panels, don't you?!Well, we've got to keep busy ....MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a]

Great stuff! :) Do I see a more "round" fuselage on the 3? :)

>>Do I see a more "round" fuselage on the 3?No, no, it's always been accurate :) One does have to wonder whether the MS chaps had drawings for a DC-2 in front of them when they designed the default, it's so slab sided. Their 'cargo' version leaves something to be desired, also. Just as well you have your MAAM-SIM ladies to keep you happy! They did a lovely job on the nose, though, I'll give them that.MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a]

Hi Mark,What I ment was: Did Jan "shave" those "corners" in terms of 16 sided vs 28 or higher sided fuselage. I didn't mean the shape itself. ;)Cheers,Alex

Wow! I am stunned that even after teh B-25 has been out for so long you are still upgrading the model, top notch service all the way! Will the update give the DC-3 and B-25 the current generation of super smooth VC gauges, or is going and making them part of the model too much work?
