Updated DC3 VC in FS9?

Recommended Posts

With the recent flurry of FSX announcements, I am left in some doubt as to whether you plan to ever update the VC for the civil FS9 DC3. Is the update still on the cards?

Hi Michael,The short answer is yes it will, absolutely. But because our TBM June 1st release deadline is looming, and it has already been long delayed because of some now resolved health issues, the civil DC-3 update will in all liklihood not come out until after the FS9 Avenger. We think it's going to be a long time before FSX overtakes FS9 as a platform and have no thought of abandoning the C of F sim in the immediate future. Aside from the reworked VC, we still have some other Gooney Bird jobs we want to do, including a ski-equipped model. So don't worry, be happy, you FS9 loyalists. On the other hand, FS2002 holdouts may have noticed that the most recent R4D CD Edition only upgraded the FS9 package, and yes, the handwriting is on the wall. FS2002 will not be supported for the TBM or future MAAM-SIM projects. So if you are looking to move up to FS9, we have a few FS2004 remaining in stock at the MAAM Online Store for $19.95. www.maam.orgBill RambowMAAM-SIM http://www.fssupport.com/maam/hgrsm_blkani.gif

And from what I've heard, FS9 is a lot easier on the CPU than FS10. Particularly if you download some of the freeware weather texture updates that reduce the cloud file size from 1 or 2 megs to about a hundred K. I would also agree that it seems to be taking FS10 a lot longer to take hold than FS9 did. Maybe they overstepped when they linked it to Vista? Was there really a ski DC-3??? Well, I guess if Edo made floats, why not??

Not so much was, as is! Buffalo Airways use DC-3s on skis today! Here are a couple of ski-equipped pics for you. The first is a Super DC-3, as it happens; the second, Buffalo; the third, Austin Airways, in flight. In flight, the skis fly themselves up under the wings. Look carefully, and you can see the aerofoil. Very clever design:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/167254.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/167255.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/167256.jpgMarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cx.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/avsimlogo.jpg[/a]
