Avsim and Zonealarm

Why do I have to disable Zonealarm, and therefore leaving my computer vulnerable, before I am able to download from Avsim. This is the only site that I have come across where I have to do this.Regards,Peter

For what reason are you having to disable it?Most of the reasons for needing to disable "ad-blockers" should be gone now. However, AVSIM uses FTP to perform file transfers, not HTTP. FTP creates a connection back to your computer, which gets some firewalls rather upset.You might want to check if your firewall mentions anything about setting it up properly to handle FTP transfers.

I run ZoneAlarm Pro and have no issues. You need to allow AVSIM as a trusted site. When you do that, you won't have any problems.

Thanks Matt & Tom, everything OK now (I hope).It took me a while to figure out what Avsim's FTP IP address was but once I'd found it and assigned it as a 'trusted site' in Zonealarm all was well.Thanks again,Peter
