Would like to upgrade to Radeon X800 Pro

Featured Replies

I currently have a Nvidea GeForce 4 Ti-4800 and would like to upgrade to the Radeon X800 pro. What can I expect? Well there be much difference in performance for MSFS?My current system specs are-Pentium4 2.5 GIGhz 1 GIG of ram100 GB HDWinXP home

"Well there be much difference in performance for MSFS?"No. But you will see a huge difference in IQ. You'll see things about the sim that you didn't know were there. Also, if you have any other games you COULD see a nice performance jump with them (I recently upgraded from a 9800Xt to an X800 XTPE and LOMAC is now tranformed from a performance standpoint).Looking at such an upgrade in the long term... you couldn't go wrong. With your present CPU you will be a bit processor bound, but as you add faster components to the system the X800 will fit right in with them.Just be sure to use DriverCleaner to remove all remants of the nVidia drivers before sliding the Radeon into the AGP slot.Hope this helps,Greg

Drivercleaner 3.3 was just recently released btw...I think you would be happy of course you will be bottlenecked by the CPU but so is everyone at least those of us who like AI traffic and demanding add ons ;).I am bottlenecked with my 2,7 gig A64 quite severe by especially mytraffic 2004 but also the PMDG and other addons.
