What Kind of FS2004 Performance Can I Expect on My New Machine

Featured Replies

I just ordered a Dell Inspiron 9200 notebook with the following specs:Pentium M 725 processor (1.6 ghz/400 Mhz FSB)1GB DDR SDRAM at 333MHz 2 DimmATI's

I got decent performance out of a similar laptop. Same CPU but 512MB of RAM and Radeon 9600 64MB graphics.1. You won't get smooth framerate with max autogen over big cities. You'll need to lower it a notch or two or disable some default.xml objects. Clouds will also slow you down so I'd recommend using a high-fps replacement set.2. Image quality is very good with modern laptop graphics chips. I was able to use 2x AA / 4x AF with the 9600 64MB. See above about clouds.3 & 4 - depends. Default AI works fine for sure. You'll likely get stutters with some addon packages. The Pentium-M CPU's are quite fast for their MHz, but for the more demanding AI addons no CPU is "fast enough".FS2004 running on 1.6 GHz laptop with 64MB graphics:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/100003.jpg
