CH Flight Yoke & Rudder or TrackIR - Need Help Deciding

Featured Replies

I am driving myself crazy trying to figure out what to buy. I have $200 TOPS to spend and there are 3 things on the top of my list. 1) TrackIR Pro2) CH Flight Yoke USB3) CH Rudders USBI am a student pilot in real life, and find that these 3 items would make my flight sim experience more realistic. Unfortunately, I don't have enough cash to buy all 3. I need help deciding what to buy, and would appreciate all comments.

It pains me to say it because I love my TrackIR so very much, but if you don't have rudder pedals yet, I'd say get them first. The yoke is important as well if you want to get a little more "real", but twist-sticks, autorudder and the like are so very far from reality that I think the pedals are the first thing any student pilot should definitely have for their sim.thanks,

I got these items in this order, and if I had to do it all over again, would still buy them in this order1 Flight Yoke2 Rudder Pedals3. Track IR Pro

I agree with Bobsk8. I use the yoke and for now I twist a joystick when I taxi or need rudder only. Otherwise I synch rudder etc under aircraft realism and stick with the yoke. Another advantage to my flying is that when I fly something which uses a Joystick I can always swop the two around. I then use the throttles and a couple of buttons from the yoke but use the stick to fly the plane (I keep two copies of fs9.cfg if you want to have more than one copy and swop between the two search the forums - if you still cannot find our how then post or email from website below.Andrew Brownhttp://www.gordiusfs.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/

After a lot of thinking after I posted the message, I would have to say that I agree with all of you. As much as I want TrackIR and it was my original choice, I really think that I could get the most out of the Yoke and Rudder being a student pilot. I guess I will just have to purchase TrackIR at a later time. Thanks for all your help.

In this order.1. Yoke.2. Rudders2.5 A dedicated Trim wheel (This is next most used item in real flying... but a decent sized one is not available for FSim)3. Active Camera (s/w)4. Throttle Quadrant5. and extra monitor.I don't use my TrackIR anymore. It gives me headache.
