Can't get into Main Menu of FS2004 after changing displ...

Hi. I am new to the forum and I tremendously admire the bonding and help that I've seen here for our Flight Simulator hobby. My sad problem is that I couldn't leave well enough alone and started to change the display settings in FS2004 to a setting my monitor cannot handle. Now I can't see anything when I open FS2004. Lines and flickering gibberish only. I can't navigate and can't change the settings back to default. Is there anything I can do besides uninstalling FS2004 ? I've even tried deleting the fs9.cfg file and it almost worked ( saw half of the screen readable for a second) .. but alas it was to no avail. (To exit FS2004 I actually have to hit the Windows key and bring up task manager to end program because I can't even see the exit button) Your reply is totally appreciated ! I'd hate to uninstall a program that was running smooth and fine with so many add-ons. Best Regards,Michael

Michael,I assume that you can see your windows desktop outside of FS (otherwise how would you even start it :-lol). I also assume that you are running FS full screen for the display setting in FS to take any effect.I'm thinking that the simple solution is to hit ALT-ENTER when FS goes into full-screen/jibberish mode, which will make it go window mode at your working desktop resolution. If this works, the obvious next step is to set a new FS resolution that does work!Gary

Gary, thank you Sir for the ALT-ENTER suggestion. That let's me see the options again and allows me change display resolution back to normal. And finally, thanks to an older post from Cruachan .. I realized that you can go to your FS9.cfg file and change the mode in there by tweaking the display resolution on this line:[DISPLAY.Device.Intel® 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller.0]Mode=800x600x32(Your graphics accelator name will appear there , and you can manually change the mode yourself) Ahhhh .. I can breathe again and more importantly, Fly Again ! I hope to be posting more in the future and I'm glad to be aboard Avsim.Regards,Michael
