upgraded to ati x800 xl and still get the shimmers

Featured Replies

Hi guys i used to get shimmers lots on the building tops trees and textures and thought it was the video card now i get it with the new card as well any ideas on what could be the problem?I'm fed up of this does anyone else get this?Other specs p4 3.0 1 gig ram 9800 pro 28 well now installed x800 xl.

Bit of a mixed bag with video card upgrades for FS. From what I've seen on this forum, those with ATI X8x0 cards report nice frame rate boosts over the 9x00 series, but shimmers are still aplenty. Those on the 6800 side report less on the shimmer front, but frame rates take a dive when AA and clouds come into the equation. IMO, graphics cards from both camps still have a long way to go in the FS arena.Gary

I have the X800 XT and even with mipmap down to 4 I still get some shimmers, I think that is a trademark of ATI cards. Sorry!
