FS 2002 grey textures on aircrafts and some buildings

Featured Replies

Hello everybody !I have a huge problem with FS 2002 pro : on flight creation menu, bundled aircrafts (Cessnas, boeings, corsair, ...)appear with grey textures. Third-party aircrafts render correctly as do FS 2000-imported ones (Learjet,...).When in flight, cockpit is OK but scenery renders partially black and airplane renders entirely black (except for third-party and FS2000 ones). All this comes after a DirectX 9.0c and Nvidia drivers (77.72) update.I tried uninstall and re-install FS but still does not work.I run a PIII 733 256 Mb RAM and a GeForce 256 32 Mo under win98 SE. (a bit old but FS 2002 has worked fine for 2 years)While reading forums about FS, I noticed several messages reporting issues with Nvidia drivers but none gives a good solution for me.Does anybody have tips on how to resolve this problem ?ThanksRegardsAlban

I can only say I am running a much older set of drivers (30.xx) and haven't has issues like this with FS2002 or FS2004 and I run almost the same rig, other than a newer 4200TI. I have stayed away from the newer Nvidia drivers, since they are designed more around the newer cards than the older ones. Although they are backward compatible with older cards and fix some bugs, their newness combined with your being on Win 98SE could be introducing an issue. You need to ask yourself when did the problem first start. If it came after a period of time, then it's likely tied to that event.By just deleting your FS2002.cfg, you can refresh the sim to the point where it was just after its first install. It's possible that an option is checked that your video card doesn't support. You may simply want to uncheck Hardware T&L and see what happens. For certain, yours sounds like a hardware/hardware driver issue and not an issue with MSFS. I will move this thread .into the MSFS hardware forum where the "experts" can give the issue a review for you.-John

Thank You John for the advice. I will download 30.82 drivers and make a try. I hope these will not mess my other games. In fact, the problem starts with the directX9.0c install. From this, I tried to resolve by updating video drivers, which I should have avoided.I am sorry for my wrong posting in general FS forum : I thought I was on hardware forum and did not pay enough attention.RegardsAlban

Works great with 30.82 drivers.Thank You very much JohnRegardsAlban
