Good videocard for non-PCI express mobo?

Featured Replies

I've been thinking about upgrading my system with a new videocard, but I have the old style non-PCI express motherboard. My current videocard is a GeForce4 Ti 4200, 128 mb, 8X AGP. Can anyone recommend a better card that would work with my current motherboard? Thanks!!Paul

Hey Paul,There are tons of cards you can use. First what is your budget like? Second are you particular to Nvidia or ATI or something else. Me personally I have been very happy with the Nvidia series of cards. From my experience you can get a AGP 6600gt or 6800 series and of course if your wallet allows they just made the 7800 for the AGP slot.Paul

i got an ATI X850PRO I am very happy with it just recently I unlocked it to 16pipes and works like nothing, I am very happy with it had a Ti4200 before that. thgis one is 100 times better. When you buy if you buy it make sure it has VIVO this way you can make it run almost as X850XT no problem, but it has to be VIVO an you can get the X850Pro for $200 now and it's AGP this is what I got and I am very happy with it run FS setup on MAX, clouds are no problem for this card I have my clouds on MAX and using ASV6 going through clouds is like through milk!!great card I have a p4 3.0 GHz, but first I installed the card on my older computer 2.53GHZ and it rocked !!! compered to ti 4200, I just use basic drivers from ATI haven't tried any Omegas or anything yet.Andy

Your other system specs will have a bearing on what will be recommended here. Please advise.Gary
