How do I connect Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS to a Stero?

Featured Replies

Hello Manny, since your soundcard has a digital out you don't really need a converter. The only thing you need is a cable to connect the card with the digital input of the amplifier. Now I assume your amplifier has a number of inputs and some of those will just be analogue. So take your manual out and look for a digital INPUT, make a note of how it looks like and go looking for a cable... I did and it works great.Luc 'Glaudrung' BrusselmansBelgium

Are there not 6 outputs for this card? Three of which are for the surround features, and well documented in the manual which is freely available at the creative site. Im not sure about this OEM thing though/allen

Allen, why make it complicated? OEM or not, there is a definitely a digital output on that card so I one can find a matching cable to connect that output with the digital input of the amplifier, one should be set...In fact, my card is connected to the digital input of a "creative" surround system by means of the cable provided within the box.So it should be possible to find such a cable in retail.Luc "Glaudrung" Brusselmans

Which out in that card is the digital output? If I look at my DELL Owners Manual, It mentions the 4th one from the top as "Surround connector - Use the black surround connector to attach multichannel speakers". Is that the coaxial digital out? All the A/V Home theater receiver have either a Coaxial Digital input and/or optic input. I know what a optic input/output look like and this one ain't it.Manny

Hello manny,The digital output is the last one, starting from the side of the motherboard. Just find your card at the website of Creative and you can download (I did so in the past) the complete manual. The output gives you the opportunity to get all the digital surround data from the card to an external device (amplifier).Mine is connected to the 'Creative Inspire 5.1 digital 5700'.The other outputs are used if you want to connect the card direct to your speakers. By using those outputs you divide the digital output in the processorby channel (front, center, back), making the signals analogue before sending them to the speakers.By the way, I just read your post again, can you find the card at the website of Creative Labs...? You mention 4 outputs but I checked my card and I have six (6) and a firewire port...I have worked for a hifi dealer for a few years and I checked with them. The small 3.5 jack that is used on the card can definitely be used to connect the card to a digital input on you A/V receiver.Just find the right cable (or get it made for you)Good luckLuc " Glaudrung" Brusselmans

But I see documentation for Audigy 2 ZS which seems like the one I have.1. FireWire (IEEE 1394) connector Connects to a FireWire (IEEE 1394) compatible external device (for example, a digital video camcorder, digital still camera, printer or scanner). 2. Line Out 3 jack (LIN_OUT3) Connects to Front Center, Subwoofer, Side Left (only on 7.1 systems) and Rear Center (only on 6.1 systems) inputs on powered analog speakers or an external amplifier. 3. Line Out 2 jack (LIN_OUT2) Connects to Rear Left, Rear Right, and Side Right (only on 7.1 systems) inputs on powered analog speakers or an external amplifier. 4. Line Out 1 jack (LIN_OUT1) Connects to Front Left and Front Right inputs on powered analog speakers or an external amplifier. Also supports headphones. 5. Microphone In jack (MIC_IN) Connects to an external microphone for voice input. 6. Line In jack (LIN_IN) Connects to analog devices like music synthesizers and other line-level sources. ITS THIS7. Digital Out jack Connects to external digital devices or digital speaker systems (6-channel or compressed AC-3 SPDIF output).
