monitor size =Preformance loss?

The bigger the size of your monitor...does it mean the more your video card works and effects preformance? I'm looking at getting a 42inch LCD monitor and was wondering if I would get less FPS going from my 22inch.Any thoughts.

IN GENERAL, what makes your hardware work harder is increasing the number of pixels that have to be rendered, the number of colors per pixel, and the number of screen frames per second. So if you get a bigger monitor but don't increase your resolution, it should perform just as well. However, if you bump up the resolution, you can expect a decrease in performance if you were straining at your previous resolution.

Thank you. I felt that way but was unsure and look to this forum for support.

A 42" panel though would be primarily aimed at TV use and would have an appropriate native resolution - probably 1024 x 768.I.e. it would run at a lower resolution than a standard 17/19" TFT (at 1280x1024)

This is the info on it. What I like about the fact that it is 16:9 ratio is that my 7" Innovatek touch screen that I can use as my gps scree is the same ratio allowing me to set a higher res and use them both since they will have the same kind of res settings. Agreed on the need for a good card. I added a 2405 @ 1920x1200 with my 19" running 1280x101024 and I noticed a FR hit that just put's me at the edge of stutters and have had a hard time getting things smooth again. If your monitor supports 1:1 pixel scaling yes you can run a smaller resolution and also not make full use of the monitor. Which won
