There is an unofficial review of this card in the newest issue of MaximumPC. From what little bit I did read of it tonight, it looks like it killed the 9700 pretty much across the board. And although I love to see the latest and greatest in video cards, they are just coming out way too darn quick.Craig

I can't believe I'm replying to an OSU fan (sigh). I agree with your statement re "coming out too quick". I can't keep up! I've upgraded my ASUS MoBo as far as I can (AMD2100+), and my PNY Verto (nVidea 4600 ti) G card is pushing it as it stands. Sheesh, it's almost time for an "upgrade" program...you buy a new system, with a steep initial price and every year you get an upgraded system for a low price. We'll get 'em next year! GO CANES!! LOL p

I saw a preorder on some UK site the other day for the FX..I think it was like 360 pounds or whatever..

360 pounds? Ouch! It's the usual case of paying a premium for being an early adopter of new hardware. I think the FX price is even more inflated because Nvidia are apparently still not producing the chips in sufficient quantities - i.e. the yield is lower than expected. An article I read recently on Anandtech speculated that the intial release quantities of the FX would be low, expensive and as much about getting the product to market to appease the stock market than anything else.Probably a good time to sit back and wait to see what ATI respond with too - almost certainly a price drop of the 9700 followed by an even faster version.

What's the big deal about price? I won't hear a peep from my wife as long as my FX & Clawhammer arrive the same day as her new Rolls-Royce.LOLJackD

Like all new things, price will be high initially, and drop after a couple months to remain competitive
