November 27, 200619 yr First Problem is as follows:1. Beechcraft Baron with 2d panel displayed.2. Click on radio stack or GPS shortcut Icon.3. Unlock the window.4. Move to secondary monitor5. Click radio stack or GPS shortcut Icon to close window.6. Click radio stack or GPS shortcut Icon to reopen window again.7. Radio stack and/or GPS unlocked window is totally black.Without closing the window the first time with the stack or GPS displayed ok, if I drag another secondary window over it it makes everything that was touched black out.If I have two secondary windows on the second monitor (i.e. Radio Stack and GPS), and move one back to the primary monitor it remains black. When I move the remaining window back to the primary, they both kick in with the proper display. Weird combinations huh!Now confession time: I realize my system leaves a lot to be desired for FSX, compromised of a P4C800 Deluxe MB, Pentium 4 3.2G CPU, 1G PC3200/400 Memory, ATI Radeon 9800Pro, 128MB Video + S3 Graphics Savage 4 Stealth III PCI for a third monitor. However, ironically enough with Autogen turned down to sparse she is flyable and surprisingly smooth with pretty much the same frame rates I get with FS9.I tried the latest catalyst 6.11, and 6.10 drivers and it made no difference with the exception that FSX would not run with my secondary graphics card installed. The 6.10's worked earlier after a fashion, so a bit of fiddling with removing and replacing cards probably would have cured that problem. I also get severe spiking in the display with either fs9 or fsx with any of the 6.xx drivers on my system. Went back to the catalyst 5.11 drivers which have no problems and work fine (advice long ago from another kind post on this forum)Second Problem: I cannot reassign buttons on my CH fsyoke for flaps. I had this same problem (along with some other commands - don't remember what they were now) on the trial version. (I have fsx deluxe installed and activated with no problem there).Third: (This is simply a nusience which I can live with is it must be). Every time I startup FSX or change the display from full screen to windowed or visa versa, I get the old video warning "The drivers currently installed for your video card may cause your computer to stop running. S3 Graphics Inc. Savage2. Click yes to search for newer drivers or no to continue." I click no, and everything seems to work fine (Latest which are still old are installed). I get this same message with fs9 the first time I crank it up, but it never appears again in future startups after I click no the first time. It appears every time in FSX. Possibly a "1" needed after an additional line somewhere in the cfg. file???? Incidentily, for the blacked out secondary windows mentioned in my first problem above, I can move these windows to this third monitor working off of the S3 card and they display fine. Of course zapping frame rates to an unuseable level is also a result.Anyone else been down this road and found any solutions? Thanks:RTH
November 27, 200619 yr Hi RT,I'll try to help a bit.Problem 2, CH Yoke flaps assignment. I don't recall having any problems making normal assignments via the Options menu but I did edit the Standard.XML config file to make the gear up/down work as I wanted it. Here is a copy of the gear and flaps assignment from my config file if you would like to paste it into yours. The file is here:C:Documents and settingsApplication DataMicrosoftFSXControlsStandard.XMLAnd here is the gear/flaps section:- 4GEAR_UP- 5GEAR_DOWN- 6FLAPS_DECR- 7FLAPS_INCRProblem 1 and 3, FSX three monitor operations. I'm so disappointed at what has happened with ATI drivers and FS. I had used three moniotrs with older drivers and FS9 and had no problems moving panels from screen to screen and having them work properly and "stay put." I wasn't happy that I had to be in Windows mode to move panels but it was OK. Some time ago, someone on this forum (and I recall it as someone from ACES) assured me that multiple-monitors would work much better when FSX was released. Well, 'tain't so. Now I have to reposition panels each time I start an FSX session and some windows (ATC) won't move from the primary monitor. I have seen no problems like you describe (panels blcking out).Adding to the monitor problems is the fact that the newer ATI drivers won't recognize a second graphics card. I'm currently running the Omega driver based on ATI 6.2 (I think) and that works fine but I'd like to try some newer ones. I'm considering removing my second card and running just two screens.Sorry that I can't be of more help.R-EDIT: To turn off Emoticons because C:Doc. . . became Coc. . . R-

November 28, 200619 yr Is this advice that can be used for ATI 850 XT cards,,,I'm a little confused on the instuctions,,,I'm guessing they are the dispay monitors comands for NVidia...Just courious and looking for answers to fix my Multi monitor challenges as well, I HATE running in windows mode,,, It looses the feel and constantly reminds me of computing,,, Plus you loose probably 5% of your viewing area,,,Thanks for any helpful input...Dean
November 28, 200619 yr Author Hello Waldo:Thanks for the suggestion.Unfortunately when I "go back to full screen mode", not only does my secondary window on the secondary monitor go black, but so does the aircraft panel on the primary monitor (I have seen another post relative to this happening but don't remember the content). When I go back into windowed mode both remain black until I move the secondary window back from the second monitor on to the primary monitor. Then both the panel and secondary window (radio stack) kick in with a proper display.I have an old 4600 video card I am tempted to try that and see what happens. Maybe the ATI card simply want work. Looks like I may have to invest in new hardware regardless of acceptable frame rates without it (or forget FSX for the time being and stick with old reliable FS9)Respectfully:RTH
November 28, 200619 yr Author Found a weird solution for my secondary windows on the secondary monitor problems.FSX seems to be having a problem determining which monitor is the primary and which is the secondary on my system regardless of display property setup, ATI control setup, and/or monitor cable connections. No sign of these problems with FS9.Solution (for me at least): Simply disable the second monitor in display properties. The enable it again (check mark). Everything works fine for me if I do this. Apparently going through this cycle straightens things out for FSX determination. Hope this helps somebody.RTH
