January 23, 200719 yr Looks very sweet and will run FSX just fine as long as you are conservative on the water and autogen settings. You may want to consider whether you want to wait for the ATI R600, which is supposed to be an 8800 killer, to either get one or to pick up an 8800 for much cheaper once it is out. Something like a 7600 could tide you over if the wait is going to be a couple of months or so. I was just thinking that I have not been keeping up with the tech scene lately too much and you probably have. January 24, 200719 yr ATI will have their DX10 cards out in a month or so, it doesn't matter if they will be faster than Nvidea's current DX10 G80 series, hopefully they will be, but the mere fact they will arrive and be as close as dammit if not faster will put prices down for us all and promote even more competition from those 2 company's, that only we can benefit from :)The top end Nvidea G8800GTX cards are silly money just now, purely because they hold a short lived performance crown.I'm no ATI vs Nvidea a really excited user, I'll go where the price and performance takes me :) But I'm not upgrading until both ATI and Nvidea have comparable products on the market, that will be quite soon .. and it will be the best bang for buck, high end card that wins my money.
January 24, 200719 yr Author Gary - Thanks, that ATI R600 sure sounds sweet.Jacek - Thanks, it was the cost of the 2 Raptors preventing me from purchasing.giharral - Thanks, sorry it was the MSI P965 Neo - F MB.Thanks for the input,Ken Ken

I fact I can throw everything at it.With FSX I have global maxed and autogen about 75%, the rest are roughly the same. FSX runs smooth as silk at 40 FPS +- 2-3 FPS depending where I am.I built this system and I'm happy with it. I expect to upgrade the proc's when AMD releases the Agena dual core Barcelona cpu's.Next week I will install Vista Utlimate Edition. I plan to dual boot Win XP and Vista. I intend to install both OS's and flight sims on the Raptor drives. At some point I may have to use 2 Raptor 250GB drives, will see.I use the Seagate 90GB for vid files, it could be larger also. Also have 2 more GB's of Corsair memory to add with Vista. XP see's all 2 gig's now, only see's 2.7 with 4 gig's and XP. Performance was actually a bit slower with 4 gig's in XP.NVidia's drivers for Vista may not be up to snuff, so to speak, and the reason to dual boot the OS's. Good luck on your build!

I had originally had autogen tweaked 800 trees 600 buildings, and got even better FPS. Then I set it back to 3000 trees, and 3000 buildings. to check something out, and to my surprise, I still got good FPS. It does dip into the high teens to twenties in really dense areas like New York., but most other ares does very well.PS.
