>When MS (finally) deliver a workable FSX environment under>Vista, utilising all the DX10 features that have so much>promise, but as yet no delivery, that will be the trigger to>start thinking about making the transition.>AllcottI haven't even changed to XP yet n FS9 runs great! I am glad the launch of FSX and Vista is not as enticing as I feared it might be, since I'd really wanted to wait to upgrade my whole PC until there is a compelling reason to. In the past, this has amounted to at least a doubling, hopefully tripling, of performance to qualify as a reason to upgrade.I do have a copy of XP I can install so might do this as I figure it will be another year or more it's time to upgrade hardware. Though, a miracle with Vista/DX10 might be enough to sway me. I certainly have the memory for XP. I don't know if Win2K runs FS9 better than XP or not--probably the same eh?Noel

I am in no hurry.....with currently no clear and concise advantage to doing so with regard to my current computing (FSX/Some other games and browsing the web), I'll simply kick back and continue to work on XP but I'm sure I will eventually upgrade :)

Cranky much?> It is not your place to end this or any other discussion. You're right. It's not my place - that's why I was asking for all of you to end it instead. But if everyone (meaning yourself, Allcott, and Kev) wants to keep it going, feel free. And for the record, I was following the conversation because in its early life, it was a worthwhile debate on the subject - I kept following it because I was hoping for some decent content to come back. But when it boiled down to three zealots trying to ram their respective points of views down each others throats, with novel-length posts each more contrived than the next, I thought I'd ask for a reprieve. Sadly, the only ego exercise I see in this entire thread is the bickering between the three of you. Sorry, but that's my point of view. I guess I'll "get lost" now.

This thread no longer relates to the question I posted. I am the author of this thread, and the discussion about EULAs and security should be part of another discussion. Just my opinion.

>Cranky much?Depends on the intelligence level and motivation of the person I

When you posed your original question, I was under the impression that you were seeking information as to whether or not to switch your current OS to Vista as it pertains to FSX performance. At the expense of being accussed of speaking for "all", let me say that responders have been forthcoming with information. I also provided a couple of links that I urge folks to read. They are not the mainstream sites, they do not heap acolade after acolade upon MS nor the OS. They do however provide you with more knowledge. In short, they "inform"; it is up to the reader to sort fact from fiction, but without hearing all sides that are available, how can you hope to make an informed decision? For those a teeny bit interested, the links I provided deal with a lot more than any old EULA and only one large paragraph within the missive addresses WGA. Folks there is more to this than meets the eye and it isn't just about EULA, WGA, or piracy of MS software.
