April 4, 200719 yr I just bought this card X1950 PRO AGP I was wondering if someone else uses same and can recommend drivers that work good with FSX and this card and any performance setting recommendation relating to this card and FSX.Thanks for any input.Andysome of my system spec for references:WinXP Pro SP2P4 3.8 Ghz HT <- not Duo or anything basic P4P5P800 MOBO2GB RAMSATA HD
April 5, 200719 yr I'm using the new catalyst 7.3 with X1950XTX and XP pro - no problems so far. Before I was using 6.2 others have reported stability problems with I think 7.2?? so I didn't use them. Performance is good on my pooter but I'm using duo. To be honest I didn't see any drastic improvement between 6.2 to 7.3, but as I said, I've have had no problems with 7.3 either.
April 5, 200719 yr Hi Andy,I have the PCI-E Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB which performs great with the Catalyst 7.1 WHQL drivers. In fact, I would even go so far as to say that these are the best drivers I've used (and I have used many over the years) for a long time. They are very stable and I have encountered no glitches, CTDs or STOP errors since installing them at the beginning of February. FS9 and FSX run flawlessly although currently, as you know, the performance of the latter does leave much to be desired in certain situations. Hopefully this will soon change with the release of SP1. At present I am hooked on playing 'Oblivion' and the quality of graphics (with a few 3rd party mods applied) and game performance is absolutely superb. In this instance I made in-game video adjustments and left the driver settings, in effect, at application preference. As far as settings go, I would suggest you forget about the CCC and, instead, install Ray Adams' ATI Tray Tools (ATT). This is a very user friendly utility that has a relatively small footprint. Then download and work your way through Koroush Ghazi's excellent ATI Catalyst Tweak Guide which tells you all you need to know:http://www.tweakguides.com/ATICAT_1.htmlCurrently I run both FS9 and FSX with these settings:4xAA (do not select AA in the sim).16xAF + Enable Anisotropic Filtering Optimizations in ATT. Trilinear filtering selected in the sim + Enable Trilinear Filtering Optimization in ATT.Texture Preference = High Quality.MipMap Detail Level = High Quality.Catalyst A.I. = LowThese settings produce great visuals for me.
