Dual Monitor Help

Featured Replies

I just bought a new Dell XPS with quad core processor and dual 8800 GTX cards. It has Vista and FSX onit. I set up dual monitors and it works great with any application except Flight Simulator. The monotors blink on for 1 second, then black for 1 second on the noff and so on. This it is impossible to fly. I reverted back to 1 monitor (a Dell flat 24" panel). The second one was a Dell 21" CRT type. Why problems running FSX and not anything else.Paul

Paul I think this is just the way it is with FSX in full screen mode. If you want to see the other window, you have to run FSX in windowed mode. At least with FSX, you can hold down the ALT key and the menu disappears, leaving just the thin title bar. That's how I fly dual screen anyway.Gary

I have a 2407 running together with a 15" panel off the same card and can drag guage windows over to it without problem.Make sure Windows is set to span across the both outputs - perhaps because you have two card you are running one monitor off each in which case you can't span windows across outputs on two distinct cards only the same card. For me the way FSX handles mutliple monitors works differently than FS9.In FSX I stay in full screen mode and simply drag windows across whereas in FS9 I had to go into windowed mode before dragging windows across and then switching back to full screen.FS9 saved the position of windows on other monitors though unlike FSX with sp1...

Have you set up the resolutions of each Card in FSX to match the resolutions you set up in Windows Display Properties?Display_Properties.JPGFSX_Settings.JPGFSX_Settings1.JPGRegardsJim

I set up dual monitors, 1 for the main panel, the second for the FMC, Throttle quad, ATC box etc. So I don't want a span view. It works great when on the internet, Word etc, I can drag boxes onto the second monitor easily. But with FSX, it goes crazy and starts the constant long blinking cycle. Does the resolution matter? I'll try in in Windows mode and see if that works. By the way, how do get a screen shot into a post? I can't figure it out.

By the way, how do get a screen shot into a post? Upload the image to your own webspace then link to it.RegardsJim

I was able to resolve this problem, thanks to a post. I ran it in Windows view and all works fine. Thanks for that advice. FYI - I have dual 8800 GTX cards and splitting up 1 card for each monitor (vs running in SLI mode) really didn't affect my FPS rate.

As far as posting a screen shot. Jim's reponse may be the correct way, but I am not a computer guy and I need a lot more instructions to post a screen shot. How to you upload a page and link to it? Step by step. If anyone has the patience to explain this I'll be your best friend.

If you use HORIZONTAL SPAN mode, it will work as a charm.

If you use HORIZONTAL SPAN mode, it will work as a charm.Horizontal Span does not work across 2 cards. You can only Span across the 2 outputs of a single card.RegardsJim
