December 16, 200718 yr after ive formatted and installed a new dell 22 in for my current pc my performance in fs2004 is horrible when it used to be decent like nothing less than 20s in the fps..now i get 15fps sitting on default settings with the C172 at seattle and nothing else installed. For some reason performance stayed the same in FSX...ive tried everything..drivers/driver cleaners/all sorts of settings..OC and no OC of the CPU and GPU..does anyone have any ideas what i'm missing? ive done all sorts of resolutions and it doesnt make a difference, the performance stays bad from low to high resolutions in fs2004..i just want my decent performace back on fs2004! any help is appriciated.thanks

December 16, 200718 yr ya know i ask myself the same thing now that ive done it, i do it about every 3-4 months no matter what to get rid of clutter that finds a way to stay on the hd in hard to find spots..but i am now beginning to re-think that philosophy!
December 16, 200718 yr Did you go from a standard to widescreen monitor? And if so, what resolution are you using with your new monitor, especially if it is widescreen?
December 16, 200718 yr >Did you go from a standard to widescreen monitor? And if so,>what resolution are you using with your new monitor,>especially if it is widescreen?im using 1680x1050 while not playing fs2004 but in fs2004 ive tried everything from 1024x768 up to 1680x1050
December 17, 200718 yr I ask because I saw a fairly dramatic decrease when I went to a widescreen monitor, and started running 1680x1050.My solution was to purchase a more powerful video card. It worked, I got my FPS back.

With XP and Vista things are much more stable. I would recommend you that you do indeed "rethink your philosphy" and save the reformat and reinstall for OS problems.
December 17, 200718 yr The re-format is not the problem. You've admitted to installing a new monitor. I am assuming your new monitor is a greater resolution than your old monitor. I would suspect you graphics card is now struggling. Have you set up windows to native resolution? have you also set up FS to native resolution? If your Windows resolution is different to your FS resolution and if either of these is not native then you are placing unnecessary processing load on to your graphics card whch would account for the loss of performance.1680x1050 is the most likely resolution...make sure its setup both in Windows and FS.regardsJim
