December 29, 200718 yr When I am running a dual monitor configuration I am getting an out of memory error. This does not happen with a single monitor. I have a Nvidia 8800 Ultra OC with 4gb Corsair Ram on an Intel Quad 6600. The 2 monitors are LCD and are running in different resolutions. Monitor 1 is in VC view, Monitor 2 outside spot view. After about 20 minutes strange lines appear on the screens, FPS goes down to 1-2 (from 23 with all sliders at 100%) and then FSX locks up and I get the OOM error saying I should reload with different video setting. BTW, I am using the 169.12 driver. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.ThanksBernd
December 30, 200718 yr I just updated to the Nvidia 169.25 driver, but the same results - FSX actually locks up now after about 20 min. of flying in dual monitor configuration. What can I do?Thanks in advanceBernd
December 30, 200718 yr Do some testing. Try using 2d panels and fly for more than 20. Then go back to the VC arrangement. Try changing some quality settings on the video card control panel. You may have to try several configurations before you figure out what is causing this.Try different settings in FS with respect to visual details.I have no idea what is causing your problem. I know that with all the different visual settings that are available, you're going to have to do some testing. Unless someone comes along that had the exact problem.Good luck,,Daphne
December 30, 200718 yr Thanks Daphne, I think what I will try is to the the desired FPS to 30 instead of unlimited. Maybe the unlimited causes too much strain on the video card.
December 30, 200718 yr Have you got the /3GB option applied in your boot file?My OOM errors were caused by running out of virtual address space and that option fixed the problem. Search for /3GB on this forum. Bert
December 31, 200718 yr I'm considering the gig version of the 8800 because of the big resolutions I need. Wouldn't even consider it with a 32 bit op system. Bite the bullet and go with a 64bit operation system. It's the only 'final' solution available.
December 31, 200718 yr Thanks guys, I will try the /3g solution. I heard that the 64 bit version has a lot of driver/software/stability issues, I am not sure if that is true or not.
December 31, 200718 yr I've been running Vista64 for several months now. All the normal stuff works. Most of the issues are Vista related, not 64bit.
January 5, 200818 yr Do you get low memory at first, or does it happen when flying for a while? I get it when I change my external views alot. I see my available memory go from 65% to 70% to 80% to 90% which is the crash level. It (available memory) never comes back. Paul Gugliotta
