JK:Think of it this way. FS9 is the girlfriend you dated in high school. She doesn't look that great without make-up but she cleans up very nicely with the right clothes and a good facial. She doesn't ask that much from you and is happy to go anywhere you want to in your 1994 Ford Escort. She's always there when you need her and, ahem, never has a headache since she is always willing for you to go all the way with her sliders.FSX, on the otherhand, is that blonde bombshell you just picked up at the club. She looks great in all of your photos causing many to drool at her very sight, and makeup makes her look even better! However, she demands that you buy her the most expensive things just so she will acknowledge your existance. She requires your full attention day and night just so she will hold your hand and she ain't goin' nowhere with you unless you drive a Ferrari. Unfortunately, no matter what you do for her, she seems to have a perpetual headache because she punishes you severely if you go anywhere near her sliders. The bottom line? I need to spend more time with my wife if I am comparing FS to women! :-lol.Warm regards and HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!!!!Mike T

Yup; the 2000 series also supports 3840 x 1024 (3x 1280x1024) but that one is now blown away by the newer (and cheaper) HD3870.

I'd avoid the ATI cards if FSX is your primary application, as they perform consistently slower than the Nvidia boards. Even the HD3870 is 15-20% slower than the 8800's, regardless of resolution, and when you are fighting for every FPS possible, 20% is significant. http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics_200...2=722&chart=293As to that 8300 card, the 8400 only manages 5fps in this test. The 8300 would probably be even lower. If you drop the res down to 1024x768, it only does 13fps. So the 8400/8300 is NOT for gaming.

Yep,I look outside this mourning as the sun rises over freshly fallen mountain snow, and near pure blue skies in the back ground with just a few wisps of remaining cirrus. Gone is the mono-tone black & whites of yesterdays miserable storms. So I sit back with a cup of hot coffee with Baily's for the holidays, & fire up my "trusted" FS9 with real weather for a quick flight around the patch; and perhaps a run along the mountain peaks. But YUK!!!! This isn't a 3rd party FlightScenery's Portland, or Glacier Bay. This is the surrounding mountain area of Salt Lake city, home of the 2002 Winter Olympics; and FS9 just doesn't do it justice, as the much finer resolution of FSX could...I now long for the days of my "corrupted" FSX, as I truely know what I'm missing....:-violin L.Adamson --- will get around to a re-install....someday
