DX10 vs DX9: no point in upgrading to vista

Featured Replies

Alot of people have started to move to vista for directX 10 but to show you all that there is really no difference between XP and Vista take a look at this video. The DX9 shots actually sometimes look better. The DX10 water is too brighly colored and looks a tiny bit unnatural. The cockpit shadow is pretty good though but who is gonna spend 2 hours staring at a black thing moving around the cockpit lol. XP also has better performance than vista. Plus alot of good addons dont work with FSX SP2 which is a main downside for me.See yas,Jourdog.

ROFL!!! I forgot to actually post the video! Here it is

Jourdog.

Hmm, wonder what the voltage is :)My experience on a similar setup is that DX10 is 30 to 40% faster than DX9 at equivalent settings. You're right that DX10 doesn't do much in terms of visuals, outside of a few quirks on Nvidia hardware.I'm curious to know if you solved the z-buffer flicker on taxiways and the disappearing point lights (beacon, nav, etc)?Etienne

my voltage is 1.77 by the way its not massive like 2 volts or anything i wanna play it safe. One of my main downsides for DX10 and FSX is that so many addons that i have at the moment that i like using will be incompatible with SP2 and i dont think thats worth 'downgrading' to vista for.

Mine's at 1.38 and 4GHz, I had it up to 4.7GHz and 1.65V but I cannot get myself to go above 1.45 for regular use even if I have water cooling and temperature is definitely not a problem.Etienne

Why not 4.7GHz? 1.65V on water cooling isnt dangerous. People always think that 1.6V means your pc will only last for a few months but some people use 1.8V daily and theyve been using their pc for 2 years! If you use 4.7GHz you will get FSX at max settings.Jourdog.
