Saitek Pro-Flight Yoke versus CH Yoke

Featured Replies

I have the CH yoke and throttle quadrant but I am thinking of getting the saitek due to the more precise control. Does anyone have it and if so, how is it compared to the CH yoke?

I used the CH for about four years - I got the Saitek for Christmas.I'm not sure about more precise control - but it is different. The Saitek has a heavier, more substantial feel to me.First - you will not be happy with the default assignments. This is as much the way Windows talks to the device as how FS understands the device. But once you get things set - it's great. The hat switch is under the left thumb, not the right - I'm still training on that issue.I like the Saitek throttles much better than the CH, expecially the ability to pull the throttle down into Reverser. The extra buttons on the Saitek help a lot. I almost never remember to reset the stopwatch - but I use the clock a lot. Bigger and easier for these old eyes to read. However, I have not yet been able to resolve a minor issue with FS2004 and the Saitek. For some reason I cannot keep the throttle from applying Z axis rotation - i.e. turning the Rudder. I can kick the pedals and it stops - but it's an annoying bit.I keep my CH setup on my second FS2004 computer - but sometimes I fly in FS2004 on my new FSX box with the Saitek.

I have both.Ive never been happy with the CH.I took mine apart and redesigned it to have the hat on the left side.,Made the small wheel on the body to 4" and use it as a trim wheel.Awsome!!!!.I than took the yoke shaft and moved it out 1" from inside and mounted the external end on the outside of the yoke handle. This gave me a much greater feel for the unit.I since bought the Saitek unit. I love it.Far better feel than the CH. No more plastic drag and continuous lubricating.CH stuff is great Im not dissing it.I just feel for me Saitek has solved alot of the concerns I have with the CH.One thing is I dont use the Saitek throttles yet. I still love the CH multi unit.Wish the levers were longer and more spread appart though.Oh well have to open that one as well.I suggest you seriously look into the Saitek.CH stuff goes for good prices on Ebay if ya want to sell your old CH stuffHope this helpsSee my setup athttp://lilalscustomcreations.wordpress.com...quickfold-desk/Al Sibley

I also cashed my 10 year old ch in on a saitek. Much more substantial feel-I screwed it under my desk for a more solid mount. Only thing I miss is the landing gear switch. I ended up getting a go flight gear/trim/flap unit to along with it and am now very happy.http://www.mediafire.com/imgbnc.php/1b5baf...b9f427f694g.jpgMy blog:http://geofageofa.spaces.live.com/

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE-the best Flight Sim!

It feels quite a bit different after using the CH for so many years. Overall I'm very happy with the conversion to the Saitek setup. What I miss most from the CH yoke is the lower resistance that the yoke offered. The Saitek yoke has very heavy feeling springs with center detents, and I still cannot control the aircraft as smoothly as I could with the CH yoke. I wonder if anyone else feels that the spring resistance is too heavy? I contemplate opening the yoke up and seeing if there is a way to weaken or replace the springs/tension mechanism.Matt

I fly the LVL-D, PMDG and PSS a/c. If the GF unit works with those A/C I am going to follow your lead. Also, where/how do you have it positioned?Thank you so much for your time,-PaulPrimary RigLiquid CooledIntel C2D E6600 @3.2 gigsAsus P5N32SLI-Plus2 gigs Corsair XMS PC6400 4 4 4 12 @810Dual OC'd XFX 8800GTX @ 2 gigs24 inch Widescreen LCD 16XAA/16XAFDual 19 inch LCD'sRaid-0+1PCPower and Cooling 1k Quad SLIhttp://home.comcast.net/~psolk/3monitorsa.htmlBackup RigAMD 4000 San Diego @ 2.72 Gigs Kingston Corsair XMS CL2XFX 7900 GTX Raid-0psolk.jpg

Geoff can probably comment on this as well- even though there's a yoke in these planes, most of the time the left seat pilot flies with the left hand only using the right for throttles. You could cut off half the yoke and be fine save maybe for balance.I my 25 hours, I never used my right hand to fly from the left seat. Now jump into the right seat and fly :) the yoke is reversed It's a totally different feel as you lack the muscle memory that the left has learned.I won't get into the whole PF/PNF thing :)
