February 11, 200818 yr SATA II is the standard. All modern mobos will be OK with SATA II. The -11s are as good as there is right now. Hard to believe 2 out of 3 of them are exploding. I have 3 running in raid 0 and there have been no problems.Any hardrive application (Megascenery, et al) will work the best with the best HD. The only even arguable competitor is the Raptor with an edge in access times. But it's not much. The -11 whacks the Raptor in transfer rates. My three drive -11, Raid 0 gets me a 4X advantage in transfer rates over a raptor. For instance, the FSX splash screen loads in about 3 seconds. However even with 4 cores crankin', inflight scenery loading Still appears to be CPU LimiTed. Initial flight load times with megascenery will be a HD issue, but inflight scenery loading is not.A single 750GB -11 (or three 250s) can be had for around the price of a 150GB Raptor. The price to performance ratio outrageously favors the Seagates.
