FSX as part of grapchics card test review

Featured Replies

Tom's Hardware did a new grapchis card review which had FSX as one of the tests. I still don't get people who claim FSX is not video card dependant and that is CPU limited. Look at how Nvidia cards beat the crap out of AMD's cards in the FSX test. They are about 50% faster!! (I know about the driver issue and menu freeze on SP2, but come on)http://www.tomshardware.com/2008/04/01/nvi...view/page4.html

I don't think raw framerate tells the whole story though. What's 40,50,60 fps good for if you get shimmering trees and flashing textures?RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian

"I still don't get people who claim FSX is not video card dependant and that is CPU limited."Well, if you look at the first sentence in the first para of the review, the reviewer states that it's CPU dependent too but the GPU drivers are also important in the overall performance. Anyway, I wish these reviewers would point out some of the defects some on this forum have noted in the display drivers when DX10 is enabled and as you pointed out. Don't they see them during testing? Didn't they have DX10 enabled during the tests? Best regards,Jim

If it could be done, I would have done it.I saying to you, that there is no nVidia user I've ever met, that said they had solved all of their issues in FSX with their nVidia cards.nVidia has great hardware, but poor drivers.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian
