April 3, 200818 yr I can buy a XFX 8800GTX Extreme for the same price now as a regular 8800GT/512I have a XFX 8800GTS/320 but my resolution at 1920x1200 give me problems within FSX due the lack of memory.I also use FS2004 with all the add-ons for eye candy and it seems to me that even this configuration with only 320Mb is bringing the system to his knees at 1920x1200 and my favorite Level-D 767Who can tell me what will be the best offer...Happy landings...C2D6750/P35/4Gb/2x Raptor/24" monitor/Vista 64
April 3, 200818 yr Based on the following review and my experience with the 8800GTX, I'd go with the GTX especially with your 24" monitor.http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3140&p=9 There are many more reviews on these two cards plus forum discussions that you might want to visit. Just Google 8800gtx vs 8800gt.Hope this helps.Jim
April 6, 200818 yr One thing you may want to consider is that the 8800GT is a single slot card and, as such, the cooling fan is on the bottom of the card and pumps heat into your system. Dual slot cards such as the 8800 GTX pump the heat out the back of the case. I use the newer G92 based 8800GTS 512mb and it's great on a 24" monitor at 19x12. Very close to the GTX in performance and not as expensive.Regards, Jeff
April 6, 200818 yr does anyone know that the new 9800GTX is out? Quite a performnace increase and good for high res. Pretty cheap aswell about the same price as 8800GTX
April 6, 200818 yr Correction: 9800GTX is alot Cheaper than 8800GTX but much faster, if u want to go absolute top of the line grab the 9800GX2 for about $600, cheaper than the ultra. The second best card in the world is the 9800GTX at about $300, Cheaper than the 8800GTX.
April 6, 200818 yr >Correction: 9800GTX is alot Cheaper than 8800GTX but much>faster, I think you better do a little research. The new 9800 GTX is nothing more than a die shrink on the 8800 GTX. The older 8800 GTX and Ultras also have a wider bus and carry more memory. There is no real difference in performance between a 9800 GTX and an 8800 GTX. The 8800 Ultra or any of the factory overclocked 8800 GTX
