Question on the new Nvidia FX card

HiAnyone know how this board will do on a 4x AGP board? The specs Im sure relate to an 8x AGP board. Can anyone shed some light on this?I really dont want to buy a new MOBO at this time but will certainly purchase the card if It will allow for the sliders being pushed farther to the right. It will be backward compatible for AGP 4x.

Very little, as the bottleneck is still the systems as curently available as well as they way FS2k2 is written. But be assured the GFFX will be backword compatable on most 4xAGP boards, the problem that you will find is the need for a good power supply and for the money of good PS you can get a good case that includes one for not much more.

What Im hearing here is that there would not be much difference in video processing loss using a 4x agp motherboard, is this correct.Could one assume that the same would be true going from a ti4600 to the new fx as compared to the performance gains offered when upgrading from a gf3 to a gf4? Not so much FPS but the ability to move the sliders to the right?ThanksBobG

For raw unfiltered (no AA or AF) performance yes, but for the rest (AA and AF on) it will be quite different as the GFFX is a whole new architecture and the GF3&4 where very similar to each other.>Not so much FPS >but the ability to move the sliders to the right? Yes and NO, it wont do much of anything (4-8%gain) to directly to allow you to move the sliders closer to max, that's up to your system, But If on the other hand you had to lower the settings just to get good FPS while using AA and AF then this is where this card will help.So that what ever your system can kick out, the GFFX or 9700pro can maintain it even under high res and good AA/AF.

Thanks Paul Well I am running at 1600x1200x32 with Quincunx AA but going to 4X or 4S really hits it hard and a loss at that level of about 25% in Frames. Im running a fairly high end system, 1.9 with 512mb ram but I cant quite get what I want with mesh , 100% AI and weather. It would sure be nice to be able to crank it all up and still be fluid.Thanks AgainBobG
