Recommended Posts

I use an APC BackUPS 500, but are some of you running off a surge suppressor? I'm trying to gauge general usage among us FS people...thanks.RhettFS box: E8500 (@ 3.80 ghz), AC Freezer 7 Pro, ASUS P5E3 Premium, BFG 8800GTX 756 (nVidia 169 WHQL), 4gb DDR3 1600 Patriot Cas7 7-7-7-20 (2T), PC Power 750, WD 150gb 10000rpm Raptor, Seagate 500gb, Silverstone TJ09 case, Vista Ultimate 64ASX Client: AMD 3700+ (@ 2.6 ghz), 7800GT

We had an island-wide blackout that took out my expensive power supply. So since then I use an UPS. As a side benefit the ups software shows my power draw in real time, so I can add that to FPS (VCPS!!).scott s..

>I'm using a 1500KVA UPS on my FSX rig.At work I recently bought a 1500KVA UPS for one of our server racksIt's an APC brand one.Do you find 1500KVA to be overkill for your setup? How many devices are you running through it?I assume you don't have a rack mount :) you're probably using a tower version?RhettFS box: E8500 (@ 3.80 ghz), AC Freezer 7 Pro, ASUS P5E3 Premium, BFG 8800GTX 756 (nVidia 169 WHQL), 4gb DDR3 1600 Patriot Cas7 7-7-7-20 (2T), PC Power 750, WD 150gb 10000rpm Raptor, Seagate 500gb, Silverstone TJ09 case, Vista Ultimate 64ASX Client: AMD 3700+ (@ 2.6 ghz), 7800GT

Rhett,LOL, emmmm....Yeah 1500KVA is way overkill. It is a 1500VA. I don't think I could find room in my house to hide a 1500KVA unit let alone afford one.--Bob

I have two..One for each rig.....This model also has AVR (automatic voltage regulation) which keeps the power constant even in a brown out.Which I get alot,.just last week My power went out twice, causing me to reset over 6 LCD clocks throughout my house..But both puters kept on going .. They do not have software for Vista 64 yet,but promise it soon.So the shutdown feature is lost for now...http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1157067061643
