Dual Core and FS9

I have a relatively new dual core AMD 64 6400+. My goal is to have FS9 use a core all by itself and then have all of the other programs run on the second core. I am hoping, for example, to get rid of the pauses that programs like Active Sky cause when using FS9 on a single core.How do I make it utilize both cores in this way? Someone mentioned CoPilot 6.1, but I don't see in the manual where it says that the workload can be spread in this manner. Can anyone make any suggestions or tell me how to manually do what I want to accomplish.Thanks in Advance,RH

Hi,You can go into the Task Manager Processes tab, right click on the process(es) you want to change and select set affinity. Then select the CPU you want it/them to run on.The downside is that you have to do this each time you start FS though. You can alter the EXE files to do this automatically if you want to.You'll find the necessary info in the tweak guides here:http://www.tweakguides.com/TGTC.htmlFor XP it's around page 112, 115, something like that.I hope this helps.Best Regards,Jeff

Hi Robbie,Get yourself Ken Salter's AlacrityPC from here http://alacritypc.kensalter.com/It is a brilliant piece of donationware software that allows you to shutdown all non-essential apps and to launch selected programs. You can also assign each of those programs to a CPU core. That's a lot better than having to do it manually each time.Cheers,
