Gary- Great pic- thank you. Proof that a large HDTV is a viable FS display! Two questions if I may-What is the eye to screen distance and do you perceive any adverse pixel graininess?Any possibility of persuading you to try setting up triple 2D views- LFwd,Fwd,RFwd- along the lines of the demonstration screenie I posted in this thread-#9 above ? I'm quite curious to see if this works- thereby completely eliminating bezel separation in a 135

I don't have PMDG 747 for FSX. In fact, I don't have many complex aircraft addons for FSX at all - that's still FS9 territory IMO.The best I can offer a screenshot of the LDS 767 VC, again when I can wrestle my son of the system.Gary

You will find it better if you lower that TRackIR4 camera, it's mounted too high.

Clayton/Gary- here's another experimental pic to show how you might mate the 2D Captain's panel with the FO panel AND with TRIPLE VIEWS!( I filled in with PopUps on most of the available 4:3 monitor format-lower screen just for fun. On wide HDTV format, don't bother with the 2 FMCs & throttle popups-just open them as needed.) Note the Lower Eicas and FO primary CRT displays.We need to persuade the developers to take advantage of big screens- not just itty bitty single monitors!This layout actually flies on my 5 yr old Athlon 1.8 / GeForce FX5200 GPU! I was standing up when showing this off to my family, so the top of the TV was best for the TrackIR at the time. I agree that for sitting down, a much lower position would be needed.Gary

Alex, I tried setting up a 2D screen with what you have requested, but I'm buggered if I can set it up right. I can bring up the three external views, but can't get rid of the original outside view. Also, sizing the windows so that horizons line up seems to be a near impossible feat. Finally, it turns out I don't have the LDS 767 installed in FS9 at the moment, so the best aircraft I can show up in this regard is the PMDG 737-800, which doesn't have a copilot view.I know that your 2D view setup has served you well with your old rig, but you'd have to ask yourself whether you'd want to keep using this setup if driving a large TV/monitor such as this. I certainly don't use 2D anymore now that I have TH2G and TrackIR, and would use VC exclusively if I were to permanently connect my system up to my TV. Your point that you only get a 45 degree FOV with TH2G is only an issue if you are using a single 2D view, because I certainly get 105 degree + FOV with my TH2G setup and VC zoomed out to the furthest non-fisheye level.Gary

Yes, it is a very pleasing sensation of motion, especially from 2M away from a roughly 1.5M wide screen.Some other points to note are those relating to LCD versus Plasma. LCD TV is just like and LCD monitor in that if you run it at native resolution you get a super sharp image, whereas I believe that Plasma "pixels" are not as precise. Also, an LCD will happily display a static image all day without any issue of screen burn, whereas Plasma TVs can suffer from this (especially the older ones) or have to utilise some electronic trickery to slightly move an image on screen if it is static too long.Gary

Gary- your efforts/thoughts are really appreciated. I think my interest in this stuff is to see how far we can push FS in terms of realistic displays. In fact, I tend to start with what an improvement in display realism might look like- and only then worry about the hardware to make it happen.
