October 24, 200817 yr Would a 1 gb video card such as the subject one be any better in FSX than a 512 mb card? I am a bit confused about the 4 Gb (3 gb actual) usage of memory in winxp 32 bit, and whether this also includes the video memory. I was wondering if a 1 Gb video card would aid in loading textures faster. Thanks,Bill
October 24, 200817 yr Bill,Performance depends on a host of variables, so what is "better" will depend on your slider settings as well as your personal preferences e.g. whether you value FPS over scenery complexity, or not.As for memory usage, the maximum for Win XP 32 is 4 GBy for "XP, FSX and Video RAM". Example: 1.5 GBy for XP + 1 GBy for Video + 1.5 GBy for FSX = 4 GBy.As for textures loading faster, that would depend on your video card memory bus width (256 bits for the HD4870), as well as the number of textures your scenery settings require that can be loaded into VRAM at any one time.Sorry for the lack of a more specific answer.Cheers,jahman.
