Oleksiy Dash-8 JAZZ repaint request

Recommended Posts

Hey all.Just went over the edge and started flying Oleksiy Frolov's Dash-8. Well, suffice it to say that the other models I've flown pale in comparison. I routinely fly Windsor-Toronto, Canada and would love to see an Air Canada Jazz repaint for this bird. Red, orange, green, yellow I don't care.I don't see a lot of repaints out there for this aircraft. Are there restrictions placed on this by the author? Is it too difficult? I only ask for help because my talents are limited in the painting department. Thanks in advance,GlennWindsor, CANADA

Hi Glenn,I too would be thrilled to see some Frolov repaints in the library. I bought the PSS DHC-8 strictly for the external model. The panel looks nice, but it's nowhere near the complexity of Aleksiy's panel. What I miss the most flying the PSS DHC-8, though, are the sounds.I suppose there are ways to hook up Oleksiy's panel and sounds to the PSS model, but I've always experienced bad effects when I've tried stuff like that -- like flaps not extending, lights in the wrong places or not controllable, etc.Anyways, I think if some generous painter would take up the call and work up a Jazz repaint of the Frolov aircraft it would make a lot of Canadian simmers happy! All the best,Greghttp://www3.sympatico.ca/gregory.moffatt/DHC-8_profile.jpg

Dan,Could you, please, give me some instructions how to repaint this plane. When I open the bmp files, I get something which does not seem to make sense. It probably is some kind of format I have to convert. Any help is appreciated.Best regards,Henrihttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg

What your seeing Henri is a DXT3 bitmap. You will need a programe called "DXTbmp" to view it and be able to change it into a paintable bitmap using PSP or the like. You can get DXTbmp at: http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/index.htmOne thing I did learn when using this program, is to be sure to save a master working image, as when you convert it back to the DXT format and then again open it to continue the painting, the colors will start to change. Very annoying when you don't know what is going on.The whole process takes a bit of getting use to and I strongly suggest that you play with it all to see how it works together.http://www3.telus.net/dport1/Radar_small.gifRC3 - Just gotta' have it!http://www3.telus.net/dport1/Radar_small.gifhttp://www3.telus.net/dport1/dansig.jpg

I did, Blair.I set up a couple of simple weeklies in and out, but I found the Most Realistic AI flights on their site and now have JAZZ flights all over Canada. It was a bit of a challenge finding all the aircraft, but the fruits of my labours are seen now everywhere. I also did a little mod to London and Windsor, ON with FSSE if you have the software and fly in and out of there now and again.Experience is the best teacher. I used to use Project AI's auto installers but I'm now quite proficient with AITM and adding airlines manually. To be honest I prefer the manual route as it gives you a touch more control over what goes where.I also added Paul Mainville's CYOW beta 3 to the mix. It's coming very well and I'd recommend it to add to the CYOW experience.Cheers,G.
