wierd happening during flight

Recommended Posts

Guest

last night, i was doing an ifr flight from kjfk to knor w/ fl at 290. i had about 6 waypoints, one being reagan national. i was at flight level, and got to my reagan waypoint and the plane (default 747) turned and then leveled. after about a minute, the air speed dropped to 0 and the plane started falling from the sky. i tried my best to save it, but i had no chance, it just fell straight to the ground, like a wing had come off or something. i didn't have any failures on, so i have no idea what caused this. a bug?

sky was clear, but i was at 29000, so the temp was around -9 cnow that i think about it, de ice may have been off. but, i almost always forget to turn it on, and have never had that happen before. from now though, de ice will be on the checklist :)it was kinda cool, but kinda scary too. went from 29000 to ground in about 1-2 mins and about 2-3 ground miles

It is also possible if you are running a weather program like FS meteo for the winds to be induced in an extreem shear condition. Have had it happen to me before and once you stall the 747, your history. Have not been able to recover from a stall on the 747 yet.Mitch

I had a similar problem last week. I was flying the F100 from DFW to MCI. I was using Active Sky 2002 and was climbing through FL270 enrt to FL310. Airspeed started to drop and the plane just fell out of the sky. Weather was clear and pitot heat was on. Rebooted the computer and flew the flight without incident the second time. Not really sure what happened but your not alone.
