Warning: `SOUNDLIB FEHLER`

Does anyone know what the warning message `Soundlib Fehler` followedby Sound File Unguelig means in FS2002. It comes up whenever I tryto get a overhead to come up on the panel of a 747.Any ideas guys??John

If I recall correctly this has something to do with the panel sounds, such as a fasten seat belt sign or switch click. I have experienced this problem before and what I did is uninstall the aircraft and panel then re-install everything. If this doesn't work, I would contact the authors of the A/C or panel and see if they know anything.-Marc

Check to see if you have fssound.dll in your fs2002modules folder. If not, download ERJgrab21.zip from http://www.fsnordic.net/ and retrieve the fssound.dll file.

Funny, I came online tonight to post EXACTLY the same error.Theres an awesome Panel for the 747-200 that someone named cloe1@hotmail.com had posted along with a bundled posky lord of the Rings 744. (dont ask me why they combined this.). I found it at flightsim.com, but its probably in this lib too.In any case, I get the same error. I do have fssound.dll installed though cause its needed with Yannick Lavignes Falcon 50. I also downloaded the plane twice and reinstalled twice...so Im sure its a problem with the panel.I have seen this before, but its been awhile. I have written to the poster. However you never know how often somebody checks a hotmail.com account.Eric

Hi Eric,I have tried the Cloe author but he has no idea what the problemis. The only way I can find to get the overhead panel up withthat particular panel is to go to the views menu and do it fromthere. The toggle gets the sound error message and then locks up.If you find a resolution let it be posted ThanksJohn

I bet this is a problem with a specific gauge. I wish the author had a clue. THis is a great looking panel to be having problems. I havent seen much in the way of 742 panels that were up to recent standards.Eric

It's nearly always click.wav, which should be placed in the FS2002/Sounds folder.Chas

It appears that one of the overhead panel gauges needs a specific .wav file that is not present in his upload (or you are not placing it in the main SOUND folder). He has it in his folder, so he's not getting the error. I had this exact same thing when FS2002 first came out. It took me forever to figure it out and I really had to dig through some old notes so I could remember what it was but here's what I found the culprit to be....Look for a Radar Altimeter, hghb_ki_250.gau called for in your panel.cfg. If it's not there, this isn't for you. If it is there, that gauge is looking for a sound file RA_Beep.wav that creates a ding when you hit the specified bug height. That sound file should be in the main sound folder (.../FS2002/Sound...)This may not be your problem. I had this with a Cessna310R that I brought from FS2000 into FS2002 and like to never got it working. But this is what I found that SOUNDLIB...error to be.

Had time to do some hex searching and these are the missing wave files that are needed in the SOUND folder.This file is used by RT_742_INS.gau --> HGHB_Click1.wav These files are used by RT_742_Engineer_2k2.gau:742_aircondition.wav742_APUrun.wav742_APUspooldwn.wav742_APUspoolup.wavI have searched for these needed files with the hopes of finding them in someone else's archive but I've had no luck. Perhaps someone has them and could tell us a source for D/Ling them.I did a work-around by copying and renaming five files that I already had in my sound library just to see if the errors vanished. They did so I'm a happy simmer.

I think the common thread here is the HGHB series of guages. I've been to the HGHB Virtual Instruments site but the needed wave files are part of, perhaps, a B747-200 panel package. Chris Koegler has the copyright on at least one of the gauges and I wouldn't be surprised if he did the entire set of RT_742_xxx.gau gauges that are a part of Cloe's 747 U/L.

I would also check Vanessa Leightower's 747-200 package for FS2000 ... one of the finest panels ever made for the 74 in my view. Cloe's work is a direct rip-off of the main bitmap for a start (or so it would appear, forgive me if I'm wrong) and so it may well be that the gauges from Vanessa's original panel will solve many peoples' problems with this new (and uncrediting) reincarnation. Most of Cloe's gauges are from people like Staffan, Paul and others. The overhead is also someone else's, I fear ... I recognise it, but can't place it offhand. I posted somewhere else that, perhaps, Cloe had forgotten the credit/copyright README ... perhaps.Mark "Dark Moment" BeaumontEDIT: I use Vanessa's panel still, and Cloe's reincarnation works fine for me ... so far. John,What is the file name? I'll d'l it and give it a trouble shoot on a program I have here. If you are missing the FSSound.dll then that may be all it is.
