ILS approach with A330

Recommended Posts

Guest mleuck

I am having a problem. Tonight I was doing an ILS approach and landing. The "APP" was selected and as the aircraft approached the glidepath, it did an abrupt turn in the oppostie direction. The frequencies were set accurately and the course also.Any ideas as to why this may happen? Thanks,Michael

Before you load the PSS bird, load the default B737 and make sure that the NAV-GPS switch is set to NAV and not GPS. Then switch to the PSS airplane.Even though the NAV-GPS switch doesn't exist on the PSS panel, it's still there in FS. The NAV-GPS switch position carries over from flight-to-flight and from plane-to-plane. Having the FS internal GPS-NAV switch set to GPS will cause the PSS autopilot to turn to a heading of 000 as soon as it switches from heading mode to start the localizer intercept. The easy sure-fire way to avoid this problem is to load a default plane before loading the PSS bird as has been mentioned a couple hundred times in this forum, but also be sure that the NAV-GPS switch is set to NAV.Note to PSS: Your recommendations in the "DEFAULT FLIGHT setup" thread pinned at top of this forum do not mention the NAV-GPS switch or this behavioral consequence of having it set wrong...perhaps it should.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Washington, DC

Hi,I had the same problem. It did happens only at any airports such as Kennedy and as I experienced, Friedrichshafen. The Bus intercept the LOC but on the opposite heading.. eg: If the LOC is for Rwy 10 the bus takes the 280 heading.I think the bug comes from the LOC in the afcad or in the BGL from FS2004.Rgds Didier
