hello again,do I have to perform step climbs on every flight using the A319/320/321 or does the flight have to have a certain lenght.regardsNicholas

Pull the Altitute selector and dial in the V/S yourself. There may be another way

Hi Nicholas,The degree of stepclimbing depends on length of flight and payload.On the PROG page of the MCDU, you can see which ALT is deemed mosteconomic by the computers. However, in FS2002 if you do IFR flights,you are of course stuck at the same altitude.Long story short, no you don't *have to* stepclimb, but from a simulated"economy viewpoint", it may be "recommended".

I believe that if you will set up your flight properly in the MCDU that it will take care of that for you without you having to touch anything.Happy flying:RTH
