New version of Bob Scott's A330/340 FDE released

Recommended Posts

Folks; I have just released version 1.2F of my alternative FDE for the PSS A330/340. This version corrects the low thrust during ground ops and rapidly rising N1 during start reported by several A330 users. There are no changes to the A340 FDE. The FDE are released in a complete archive for all four A330/340 variants...users currently operating with my FDE need only replace the A332.air and A333.air files...no changes to the aircraft.cfg files are needed if you're already using my FDE. The FDE zip archive can be obtained at: http://home.comcast.net/~gulfstream-v/index.html There is one unavoidable side effect...the ground idle fuel flow is too high (~5000 pph), due the the constant SFC engine model in MSFS. I have not done the extensive flight testing of this version which was accomplished with my previous versions, so please report if anything significant has changed. You are the test pilots!RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Washington, DC

After more extensive flight testing, I decided I didn't like the effects the last (1.2F) change had on spool-up times...I have, instead, opted to accept the short N1 overshoot exhibited during start-up. Also, there was an error in the adjustment of one of the thrust factor curves that reduced thrust factor during climb slightly...enough though to be significant with a very heavy jet climbing to near max cruise altitude. Therefore version 1.2G is released on my website (see previous post)...again, only a minor fix to the A332.air and A333.air files. This version gives realistic idle thrust on the ground, with the previously noted high idle fuel flow as a side-effect, and climb thrust profile has been corrected. The N1 RPM will tend to spike rapidly and momentarily overshoot to ~60% during engine start, but in this case the cure proved worse than the very minor problem.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-VWasghington, DC

Hi all,Is there any kind soul out there that know how to possibly apply thesefdx files to FS2002? I emailed Bob, and he confirmed that these filesare FS9 specific, and I might not "upgrade" any time soon, if ever, toFS9. I'm not an FDX guy, so I don't even know where to begin. I just love to fly (PSS) Airbus, and these beasts are presently (IMHO)the best on the block, even if they may have a few issues here and there.

hi bob, thanks for your files - just a quick question: is it neccessary to adjust the lift_scalars (high pitch problem during approach) suggested by other users with your latest airfils? or does your files already correct the hig pitch problem?thanks and cheers!harald
