Airport Chart Viewer Help Please?

Recommended Posts

I downloaded the Airport Chart Viewer 3.0 tonight. It says you need the previous version. I downloaded the V2.5 version next. When I unzipped the V2.5 it gives me a Support folder with two setup programs, and also a zip file and another setup executable in the main folder. I am lost as to how to install the V2.5 which I need installed before installing the V3.0. Can someone please tell me how the heck to install the V2.5. Sorry for all the questions. Thanks, Bob.

I just unzipped the files from the main zip file intoC:Windowstemp and ran the set up and it took care of therest. Why it has the same files in a .cab file, I don't know, but I didn't unpack the cab at all. Just left it in the temp/whatever folder that was created by the unzip. On Win98 all it does it make a couple registry entries foruninstall and to show that it shares some visual basicdlls, then copies 6 files into its directory and createa shortcut on the start menu.scott s..

I successfully installed it last night. Go to his website, it's in the documentation, and download the service pack. Install that instead of "a previous version." Then install Chart Viewer. The Read Me in the service pack gives a good explanation.Boyd BarkerSenior Command CaptainKBOS Hub ManagerWestWind Airlineshttp://home.houston.rr.com/checklist/DFexperience.jpghttp://home.houston.rr.com/checklist/checklist.htmlMy DF737 Around the World Adventure: http://home.houston.rr.com/checklist/aroundtheworld.html

After I typed in the ICAO and went to the drop-down list, it made the airport I typed in the top one. For example, I typed in KBOS and Boston Logan was the top choice in the drop-down.Boyd BarkerSenior Command CaptainKBOS Hub ManagerWestWind Airlineshttp://home.houston.rr.com/checklist/DFexperience.jpghttp://home.houston.rr.com/checklist/checklist.htmlMy DF737 Around the World Adventure: http://home.houston.rr.com/checklist/aroundtheworld.html

I reinstalled Airport chart viewer and still the only way to get my airports is to search ALL the aiports in the drop down menu. Don't get me wrong it works WHEN i find the airport in the drop down menu. Just takes awhile.

Hi. Thanks. Did you first install the V2.5 then the V3.0? I don't understand why there is the cab file either. Regards, Bob.

Hi. V3.0 created a database but there are no airports like KLAX, KLAS, etc. My database is 11.4M in size. There are hundreds of little airports but no major ones. They are all out of order and it does not seem in any logical order. What's the problem? Thanks, regards, Bob.

I may have installed mine a bit differently and I only suggest this way since mine is working fine. Go to the author's website http://www.joachimheimfeld.de/manuel/chart_viewer.htm and download both Chart Viewer 3.0 and Service Pack 1. Do not install a previous version. Just install Service Pack 1 first. There is a read me in the service pack to explain how to install Chart Viewer after installing the service pack. Make sure you remove your existing version and database before trying this procedure. Good luck.Boyd BarkerSenior Command CaptainKBOS Hub ManagerWestWind Airlineshttp://home.houston.rr.com/checklist/DFexperience.jpghttp://home.houston.rr.com/checklist/checklist.htmlMy DF737 Around the World Adventure: http://home.houston.rr.com/checklist/aroundtheworld.html

Did it that way. no other versions, If I look in the drop down list and look at an airport, any airport, but don't choose it just look how it is spelled ,and type it in the exact same way,in the box, choose departure or destination it will not come up.

Hi BobI have 3.0 installed as well and it works like a charm. I did find one little quirk in trying to reproduce your problem. You can't just type in the blank line. When you start airport 3.0, it will scan the databases. Let it finish. Once complete, you have to click the down arrow to make the drop down box open. Once that drop down opens, type in four character, ICAO and it goes to it as you type. It's true they aren't in any order but if you will open that drop down before you type, it will find it for you - or it does for me. I tried KBOS and KDFW both and had them both in just a second or two.Hope this helps.BobL
