nose pitch in a340 on approach

Recommended Posts

Guest giln

When approaching to land with the a340, at suitsable speeds for the airplanes weight and using an iLS approach, on several approaches, the airplanes nose pitch, while descending at 800 feet per minute, is increadibly high!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't see the runway at all!!! What is going on??

Make sure in the flaps.0 section of the aircraft.cfg for the A340 that the lift_scalar is set to 0.8

No, sorry, but reducing the flap lift scalar from 1.0 to 0.8 will only make the problem worse. You might consider using my alternative FDE for the A330/340...see:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...esg_id=62&page=RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Washington, DC

Ah yes the 0.8 was in a test cfg file that I hadn't annotated properly to show the effect of changes. I am in fact using your revised FDE (v1.2E) which works well for me.

Well, other possibilities include having the wrong (or no) ZFW enetered into the MCDU, which will drive incorrect speeds...sometimes folks get lbs and Kg mixed up. Or also, the station_load settings in the config file may be dorked...have you recently used a loader? I'd go into the aircraft.cfg file for the bird you're flying and do a close check of the weight and balance figures and see if the ZFW reflected in the file is the same as what you think you have.If it was working fine before, and just started this, it's nearly certainly something like this.Oh, one other possibility, is if you have recently installed any PSS liveries, the PSS installer will overwrite the aircraft.cfg files for all variants of that airplane with the originals...for example if you install an A330-200 livery, you will find both the A330-200 and A330-300 aircraft.cfg files have been overwritten. Best to always back up the config files before installing anything and hand-jamming the appropriate [aircraft.x] section(s) into the aircraft.cfg file yourself. My .air file with the PSS aircraft.cfg file or vice versa is going to cause problems. If it still keeps happening, we'll need some details to help troubleshoot further...weight (from the FS9 -> aircraft -> fuel/payload menu), speed (actual and indicated Vrfe), configuration (flaps/gear/MCDU approach mode), pitch angle etc.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Washington, DC
