Hi all, some weeks ago, I promised someone in the AVSIM flight school to set him up with some real world A320 W&B/Perf stuff. As this seems the more appropriate forum, I'll just post it in here as well:-> Flight from Vienna to Zurich, Bale-Mulhouse as alternate.-> Passengers: 108-> Baggage: 1086 kgHold 1: 33 kgHold 4: 1053 kg-> Routing: SITNI3C SITNI UL856 NEGRA NEGRA3ZCruizing level: FL340 (temp @ FL340 -> -60)-> WindCruize:SBG: 330/75 (fuel check: 3500 kg)TRAUN: 330/72 (fuel check: 3400 kg)Descent:@FL 310 -> 330/61@FL 200 -> 320/44@FL 100 -> 290/29-> Fuel Figures:Trip Fuel: 2700 kgContingency: 500 kgAlternate incl. 30`holding: 2400 kgMin. Hi. Thank you for a very informative set of parameters. I will certainly be trying to reproduce this flight as soon as I can. The problem with posting here is that arm chair pilots like myself will have a million questions LOL. My question is that I am intrigued by the term Mass used in Mass and balance. Does that mean that in real world operations everything is related to the mass and not the weight, or am i reading too much into the data?. From physics days i remember that weight= mass* acceleration, any light on this would be appreciated. The more i learn the more i want to knowmany thanksJohn Calleja

:-)Well, some time ago, it was actually called weight and balance. Then, when JAR/FCL was introduced in Europe, some clever people discovered that it would be more correct to perform a Mass and Balance calculation. Which makes sense, while when it comes to "balancing", the same amount of mass will always result in the same amount of trim, everywhere - even on the moon. The measured weight would be completely differently though.Hmm, hope that helps, regards!

Hi again.Thank you for taking the time to reply, Your comments make perfect sense, and result in unified trim anywhere in the world for the same mass. Now I can try the figures out in the PSS A320 as best as i understand themregardsJohn Calleja
