A problem in PSS A321 only

Recommended Posts

Guest batur1977

Hello John,I did that yesterday including removal of PSS together..This problem continues despite this operation...What's your remark about it ? What does this pop up message refer to ?where do you think it points out ?

yes it is installed in the default folder and no i never changed the path..once again i removed both the pss and FS and reinstalledstill giving the same pop up it does not inhibit me to fly with A321v but always gives this pop up once when i activate A321v for the first time and no more messages until i quit and restart the fs again...I really do not understand why...is something corrupted ?what does attempting to open a non existent directory means there is no path like this when i investigate...

I have exactly the same problem as this. Similarly, it only applies to the A321v and although it doesn't prevent use of the aircraft, it is rather annoying. My FS9 installation is not the default but is C:Flight Simulator 9 and my message is slightly different in that it refers to a texture file in location C:PSStexture. It looks to me that something is calling for the texture file but the location path is corrupted ie. leaving out the Flight Simulator 9 section.I dont know if this helps but I wanted to let you know that the problem is not specific to the original poster.NB. My aircraft is the PSS download version as well, and not the CD version.Warren

Dear All PSS Staff,Finally I have found the problem and solved it.Here is the solution: Remember the pop up msg !? "Attempting to open a nonexistent directory cprogram filespsstexture etc....If it is trying to search a file which the computer thinks is in the program files folder but can not find it somehow, why do not i copy and paste the PSS folder (which is also located in FS9 folder) to the path above....I thought this way hence applied it, the result is a triumph :))there is no pop up like this anymoreNormally the PSS folder is automatically recorded after download from the set up in C:program filesmicrosoft gamesFS9PSSAfter I copy this same PSS folder directly to Program files it looks like thisC:program filesPSS....That's it !Because this time it is searching from the directory under program files, the same path and this time it can find it on the contrary to its non-existency...:)Four your information

Hello Wad,I wrote the solution apply it please...Copy the PSS folder to program files which must look like this after you do it: C:Program FilesPSSThis PSS is also located in FS9 Folder, but if you copy and paste it from FS9 to Program files. Nothing will be left as problem :)It took 6 hours to sparkle in my brain but anyway remedy is remedy :)

Hello Batur, Thanks for your reply. Your solution solves the problem. In my case, I needed to create the "C:PSStexture" folder (my installation wasn't default) which was the location that the aircraft was looking for. Interestingly, I didn't even need to have any files in the "texture" folder. In your case, I suspect you dont need to have the complete "PSS" folder under "Program Files" but simply an empty "texture" folder. Whilst this is an effective work around for the problem, it looks suspiciously like a bug associated with the A321v aircraft. Something in the VC part of the model is looking in the wrong place for the texture files. It is surprising that we both have the identical problem and only with the A321v model.Warren

I am also suffering from this one. A clean install of FS9 then the 3 Airbuses.I can confirm that it only affects the A321 but I have also noticed that that the VC textures are bad once you 'OK' the error message. I've attached a screengrab.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/145011.jpgAsh

I think I've found the root cause. It's to do with FS9's method of looking elsewhere for files that it doesn't find first time. Here's a dump from filemon just as I switch to VC. It seems that there is a problem in the first call:C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9AIRCRAFTPssA321texture.ba_unionA319_C_T.BMP NOT FOUNDThat folder only contains a321_V_t.bmp which being an iae model is correct is it not? Then why call for a _C_ variant and why for the outside textures of a 319 when I'm flying a 321?When I choose the house livery for the iae model then the same file is called for and errors of course but FS9 doesn't go off and look for it in CAB and dat files this time. What is also confusing is that if generic_c.bmp is the VC then why look for A319_C_T.BMP when switching to VC?This never happened before and has only been seen since I did a full re-install last week. So the question is "What has PSS changed in the A321 recently?"(Edited to turn off the smileys for you)

Me again....Just noticed that the VC for the house A321V doesn't seem to have lighting but the house A319C does.Ash

>This never happened before and has only been seen since I did>a full re-install last week. So the question is "What has PSS>changed in the A321 recently?"Actually the question would be better posed "What is different in your system this time around?"The ABPro files have not been touched since 18th Feb 2004.

Greetings,I have the exact same problem, though I can remove the pop-up message by copying the folder as Ash did, the textures in the VC of the A321 still look awful - and work perfectly in the A320 and A319.Perhaps one of the developers could have a look at my .mdl file to check if for some reason it may be corrupted? Can't think of any other reason for this problem, especially as it only shows up with the A321.Regards,Robert
