ILS approach question

Recommended Posts

Guest edmundoflori

Hello allI have been trying to perform an ILS approach to rwy 34 at LSZH (Zurich)in my A320. Problem is that while this approach is listed as an arrival option for the airbus, when tuning to the freq. neither the localizer or glideslope appear in PFD or ND. Both LOC and APP buttons are selectable on the FMC. I notice that this approach is not available in FS's own NAVdata but wouldn't have thought this was problem.Could it be that aircraft has some missing data? Or more likely did I miss out something programming it? Problem also seems to exist at any airport approach where FS map doesn't show ILS. Can't help feeling I've done something wrong. Also, had no problem tuning into ILS rwy 14 & 16 approaches. Hope this makes sense! Look forward to any advice,Ed

I haven't tried flying into Zurich recently, but if you are using the current AIRAC 0504 from www.navdata.at there do appear to be some problems across Europe. Possibly reverting to a previous AIRAC might help.By the way, FS's own navdata is seriously rubbish, woefully out of date and shouldn't be taken seriously.

Come to think of it, I doubt it is an airac problem. Have you made sure that you have activated the approach at the right time and also checked on the RD NAV pagr of the MCDU that the ILS freq is showing at LSK3L?

Thanks for the input. Have got round the issue by adding the ILS approach to the stock airport using the very clever AFCAD programme. Just flown it and all worked great. Apart from a rubbish landing.Best wishesEd
