How well should the A320 hold the ILS?(With no wind)

What is the best degrees to approach the final RWY course?, is the bus suppose to get lined up straight awaying without any diviation?sometimes it lines up first time and sometimes it does and can take 5-8 D to get alligned.(ive got autorudder turned off and started the defualt flight(cessna) before hand)im an experienced airbus user, and just wanted to know whats the problem...cheers,scott waterworth

Scott,If you are doing an ILS appoach, the normal angle to intercept to localizer is 30 degrees to the runway heading. If you have programmed your MCDU correctly the ILS will be in there. You do not have to input that frequency. You will have to press the localizer button when the localizer becomes active on your apporach. The Bus holds the ILS localizer and glide slope beautifully for me.Dan Ward

...and you should also check your approach speed.If you are too fast it's likely that you'll miss the localizer capture.Stefano
