VFR and IFR maps for FS2002

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,I'd like to know if there are some VFR and IFR maps for FS2002 that allow us to know our location during the flight, like in Fly! and Fly! II :http://damien.brunet1.free.fr/Fly!2_Capture/Fly!2.jpgThank you,;-)Damien BRUNET.e-mail : udb@fr.stLe Forum Francophone de FLIGHT SIMULATOR 2002is French - FS2002 forum- FSFRANCE website forum- FRP - France Project website forum- FS2002 "chat"and exclusive FS2002 files for members ...http://www.forum-fs2002.fr.st/The registration is FREE ;-)

Hi, FSNavigator may be the tool you are looking for, it has a moving map feature like the one in Fly!/Fly! II. Useful for looking up frequencies as well. But it tends to do the thinking and flying for you, and "should be handled with care". A more closer to reality approach, but more demanding from the simmer, is using a GPS addon with moving map capabilities (RealityXP FLA gauges, FSGarmin 430/530 modules). NOTHING beats skillful navigation though with navaids and paper charts...Regards, Uwe

Yes, but it is payware.1. FSFlightMax is a 3rd party program application that runs within FS and tracks your location by the use of ...2. A multitude of electronic simcharts that load into FSFlightMax and are available at www.aeroplanner.com That is what I use, anywayFSFlightMax ~$30 bucks (US)Simcharts ~$7 bucks (US) apiece, or $50 bundledHope this helps, mouse

The FSGarmin (http://www.fsavionics.com/) is a module that works independant of the current plane. So no modification of any panels. It's especially great if you have a second monitor. But you can show and hide it via keyboard as well.Personally, I use the FSGarmin 530 for all General Aviation planes. It's not realistic for jetliners, though. Most commercial pilots seem to like FSNavigator, although personally I don't like it because that's nothing you have on a real plane.I have searched for a free moving map as well, but could not find anything that was usable, so I spent some money on the FSGarmin.Bye,VOlker :]

Jason,Could you post a screenshot of a map near Paris to see how it looks in GPS Garmin 530 (roads, airports, streams, railroads, ...) ?Thank you !;-)Damien BRUNET.e-mail : udb@fr.stLe Forum Francophone de FLIGHT SIMULATOR 2002is French - FS2002 forum- FSFRANCE website forum- FRP - France Project website forum- FS2002 "chat"and exclusive FS2002 files for members ...http://www.forum-fs2002.fr.st/The registration is FREE ;-)

I've made 4 quick screenshots at LFPG. The Garmin map display is highly configurable, but I guess you'll get quite a good impression. There are two modes: map mode, which shows the plane in the center of the screen with the map showing north up, and nav mode, which shows the plane at the bottom, heading up.As screenshots are discouraged on this forum, I'll post a link to quick'n'dirty webpage instead:http://www.syssoft.uni-trier.de/~jansen/fsgarmin.htmlYou can get a demo version of the FSGarmin 530 on http://www.fsavionics.com/. It has all the features of the full version, the only limit is that it stops working after 30 minutes. Take a look at their forum as well, it contains some useful information.Bye,VOlker :]

Thank you !;-)Indeed, the screenshots are good and the GARMIN looks by far better than the default GPS of FS2002.I went on the FSAvionics website but I don't know which file to download for the demo. Could you give me the name of the file or the good link ?If I buy the GARMIN 530, can I get the file directly (by downloading it) or is it a CD-Rom that would be sent to me ?;-)Damien BRUNET.e-mail : udb@fr.stLe Forum Francophone de FLIGHT SIMULATOR 2002is French - FS2002 forum- FSFRANCE website forum- FRP - France Project website forum- FS2002 "chat"and exclusive FS2002 files for members ...http://www.forum-fs2002.fr.st/The registration is FREE ;-)
