Engine relight questions

Recommended Posts

Hello thereI'm trying to learn the engine relight procedure that Rob have made available at Speedbird.I have some questions I was hoping you could help me with. I have some general stuff first.Yesterday I had a bird strike (courtesy of FS Passengers) which took out the right engine on my PSS A321. My question is that if an engine is taken out by birds, is it out of commission for at least the rest of the flight? A relight is not attempted on an engine after a bird strike? If an engine flames out, you would secure that engine and do a single engine approach at earliest possible convenience, is that right? Now I have some questions about the checklist. The green dot speed would be the third speed shown on the Take Off screen of the MCDU, the one that readsCLEANO=213 (for example)Is this correct? The Relight checklist says SELECT green dot speed. Does one do that by using the speed knob on the FCU? and then pull/push the knob?In the beginning of the checklist I am told to disconnect autothrust, yet soon after I am to place it in FLEX detent which reactivates the autothrust. I don't fully understand this. Also,I copy/paste the following curious thing ENG MODE SEL

Bird strike: I think you are right on this but I would have to check.Green Dot: yes the Clean=213 for example is green dot. Select the speed in the FCU then pull the knob (right click) for selected speed.XBleed: You spotted the deliberate error! It should only appear once. I will sack the proof-reader.Rob Elliott, EGPE InvernessPSS Airbus Support andAirbus Fleet Training Captain, British Airways Virtual airbus@speedbirdonline.co.ukhttp://www.speedbirdonline.co.uk/airbus.htmlhttp://www.bavirtual.co.uk
