A330-200 Toronto to Chicago tutorial

Recommended Posts

Having just purchased the A340 professional, I am already confused with the tutorial for the above.1. When loading the figures for the Fuel Planner, I get a different total to that stated in the tutorial.2. It then says to place the aircraft at gate 209. There is no gate 209 is FS2004?3. When placing the commands in the MCDU, we are supopsed to depart from runway 24R. However, whenever I ask for clearance to taxi from ATC, they always direct me to runway 33R, no matter which way I request to depart.I haven't progressed any further yet, as I am not happy with the inaccuracies with the tutorial.Just one other thing however, I also cannot find the commands to open the cargo doors or engine cowlings? Many thanks to anyone who is brave enough to answer these questions:-)Rich

Rich,Welcome to theforums.>Many thanks to anyone who is brave enough to answer these>questions:-)I guess that will be me then.First please note that until today I have never looked at the tutorial. So lets look at what we have.1. The tutorial is for the 330-200. The figues will of course be different using the 340 - its a bigger aircraft.2. Just because there is no goto menu doesn't mean the gate is not there. As to why you couldn't find it, Im unsure. My default install of FS showshttp://www.avsim.com/pss/screenshots/cyyz_209_list.jpgJeppesen shows Gate 209 near the end of the pier, as seen below.http://www.avsim.com/pss/screenshots/cyyz_209.jpgAddon scenery that I use does show a gate 209 and this is ithttp://www.avsim.com/pss/screenshots/209_addon.jpgGranted you may not have the Jeppesen chart or any addon scenery and can't find Gate 209 in the menu. To assist, this is the aircraft at the Gate 209.http://www.avsim.com/pss/screenshots/209_default.jpgI'm not the author but I'm guessing 24R is chosen for a number of factors, not least the fact that it is very close to the suggested stand. As for why FS ATC won't give you Runway 24R, I would suggest its because the winds favour that runway. Personally I fly exclusively online with VATSIM, never having been a fan of the AI ATC.Ultimately the stand and runway are not relevant. Persevere with the tutorial. It is written in such a way that someone with zero knowledge can get the aircraft from A -> B.Cargo doors are opened using whatever key press you have assigned to doors (default Shift+E) followed by the number 2.Engine cowls don't open.I trust this answer shows enough bravery for you

Thanks for being brave to reply Norman. The Pearson airport I have doesn't even show the gate numbers or have the vehicles like in your pictures, so obviously I will hunt for an add-on.CheersRich
